Nah, I think the phlog is quite useful for a lone wolf pyro as it refils their health and boosts their attacks to critical. A backburner pyro is still quite reliant upon help, and while a phlog does lose airburst (which is the #1 reason why I never use phlog), the capacity to be your own one woman critical rage self healing machine does lend itself to going solo.

That said, aside from a spy, no one should be going solo in TF2.

Degreaser, for the +10% speed bonus of the Gas Jockey -- outrunning even Medics -- and faster switching from secondary back to primary. Pairs nicely with the passive-reload of flare guns, too.

Stock/Rainblower, although I prefer the Rainblower for that one time every 15 years where you manage to get a taunt kill.
