Dead Ringer: IDGI
How does the danged thing work? I kill spies with it, but then they're not dead. I kinda get that, but... does the dead ringer basically give them a 2nd chance at life? I ask this because

1. I kill a spy, he has dead ringer, so I assume he's not dead. He reappears soon after, I kill him again, then he's yet alive a few seconds later.

2. I got the Loch-N-Load today, and it seems to kill spies with 1 shot. I kill a spy with a dead ringer, and he's alive a few seconds later. Ok, so I kill him a 2nd time, only to see him reapper a few seconds later... ♥♥♥♥♥?

I was told that if he grabs ammo after he uses it, he can use it again, so if he gets hit and fakes his death, but it should have been a fatal hit, he can basically avoid death, grab random junk on the ground, and stay alive? I rarely see the dead ringer, so maybe I'm just not used to it, but that sounds OP if that is really how it works. But... I wouldn't care if that was how it worked if it didn't show up in the killfeed.

So... is this how it works, or can someone please enlighten me so I can devise my anti dead ringer strat.

For the first 2-3 seconds the spy has MASSIVE resistance to all damage, and since ammo packs and weapons refill the gauge pretty fast consecutive deadrings are easy.

ah, so the thing isn't that he's getting a new life, he's just tanking all the damage? So, he goes insta invisible, but has to get ammo pack before he reappears, or he can't dead ring again?

That doesn't sound TOO bad, but... the kill feed is annoying. They should remove it. If he's not dead, don't show him as dead plz

What is also nice, and yes, me and a random other confirmed this, achievements related to killing spies, you still get even for Dead ringers hiding.

That doesn't sound TOO bad, but... the kill feed is annoying. They should remove it. If he's not dead, don't show him as dead plz
Thats the point, first off, it gives him massive resistance, and lets him cloak after taking damage. Then when he uncloaks ( very loudly btw) He can pick up ammo which almost insta fills it up, and also it has +60% cloak regen. But you can't activate it unless its fully charged. The dead feed is a way of tricking you into thinking they are dead. If you see them die on a singel bullet, you know its a deadringer, just go find him and boom he's dead. If they use it correctly they can actually trick you into thinking they died, so if there was no killfeed its basically punishing the people who use it correctly. :spycon: I play compeditive spy so i know the ins and outs lol

Actually, from what I understand, the kill DOES NOT show up in the killfeed if the Spy was using a Dead Ringer.
I was in a server just a few minutes before I made this thread. I killed a guy using it, then he reappeared a few feet in front of me, I killed him again, then looked at the kill feed and it showed me killing him twice.

The kill shows up in the killfeed for one reason: to make it easier for you to think the Spy is dead.

Just ignore the killfeed whenever you kill Spies. Be wary at all times for decloaking sounds and the like.

Yea, the 1 bullet drop is the only reason I realize people are using it. I hurts though when you're using a weapon that 1 shot kills them anyway, then it's hard to tell. I agree about the sound though, I figured out the loud noise a few seconds later means he just uncloaked nearby, so I search again. It was just frustrating in that last round because I would "kill" the guy, only to be backstabbed a few seconds later because I thought he was blown up. If it was a pistol or shotgun, I would know... but not from a nade or two.

It's worth noting they can't cloak again until it's full which can take up to 16 seconds. Even uncloaking befor ethe cloak bar is empty will still take it down to near empty.

It's broken imo. Especially for headshots. If a weapon would kill a spy normally, why should I get the ♥♥♥♥ end of the stick just because he has a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pocket watch held out?

Because the pocket watch has stupid downsides such as loud decloak and not as much cloak and is not very effective at making other players think you actually died.
