The southern hospitality is alright. I'd say it's a better option than stock.
However, none beat the jag for conventional engineering. The downside is negligible since you have a shotgun or laser rifle, and the faster build speed is useful under any circumstance.
Gunslinger is weak.
So it comes down to this
Jag
Southern Hospitality
SH for defensive spy-checking, dealing damage to spies while unsapping is the best.
As for jag
Use the Rescue Ranger and the Wrangler.
Sentry jump to a high-up spot
Bring your sentry with you up there where not too many can each
As soon as that is done, spam the sentry with wrench.
Success, you have become a proper offensive engineer.
Jag helps if you don't melee, otherwise, next
SH can spycheck, and deal damage over time, but you burn more easily, so watch out (pretty much negligible but still)
Eureka Effect provides a way of escape, and you won't be moving stuff in a hold anyway
Gunslinger is for offense and supporting other engies on defense. Drop minis everywhere, don't care about hate, that's what I do
Gotta watch for necros.
