General help for those encountering issues
Hi guys this is a post to try and help people troubleshoot problems, I don't have the game yet so this is general troubleshooting advice.

General troubleshooting
-----------------------
~!*Always run as administrator*!~
1) Update your GPU drivers to the latest version
-Restart PC after
2) Verify Game Cache on steam
-Restart if files were downloaded
-Also restart if you just installed fallout 4 and are having issues
-----------------------
Windows 10?
-Try running in compatibility mode for Windows 7 or 8(8.1)
------------------------
In-game troubleshooting
Crashes?
-turn off v-sync either in game or through your gpu control panel
-Running fullscreen? try running windowed or vice versa
-Set all settings to low and if it doesn't crash turn them back on incremenetally
Graphics issue?
-Disable effect settings (Godrays, AO, etc) to see if it fixes it
------------------------
Optional troubleshooting
-Complete driver sweep (remove all traces of drivers and reinstall)
-Underclock gpu
-Rollback drivers (Some people have luck, depends on make/model of gpu)
------------------------
Temp SLI fix
-In Nvidia control panel force alternate frame rendering
------------------------
Microstutter
-Running windowed fullscreen (borderless) has been working for some
------------------------
!~*NEW*~!
Temp fix for xaudio issues for F4 from bethesda
http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1544136-fallout-4-updates/
Worth a try if you are getting crashes
------------------------
Word of caution for removing fps cap
-The physics engine (**Might**) be tied to the 60 fps cap, removing it (**Might**) cause issues
------------------------
Some people are having issues with settings not being applied. Check your fallout 4 ini file which will be located in the installation directory

C:\Users\*USERNAME*\Documents\my games\Fallout4

then locate the fallout4.ini files and follow these steps

"Right-click the file, and then click Properties. Click the General tab, clear the Read-only check box, and then click OK."
------------------------
No mouse?
-Check to see if your gamepad is connect, might be overriding the mouse input.
------------------------

Hope this helps someone this is just common troubleshooting steps.

This might be do to your Fallout4 ini file being set to read-only if so remove the read-only parameter.

"Right-click the file, and then click Properties. Click the General tab, clear the Read-only check box, and then click OK."

Can't seem to get past the initial boot, tried everything, but I keep getting a 'MemCel.exe;' error.
Here's my specs
Dell Dimension DE051
Intel(R)
Celeron(R) CPU 2.53 GHz
2.53 GHz,256 MB of RAM
Windows Vista
Can't find the ini files. Not in documents or steam folder...

did you update amds c.c.c ? that worked for me

I tried most of those but either got a huge screen (full screen but most of the game screen off the screen) or windowed. Here's what worked for me:

1. I have an older Nvidia 2 gb card. So it uses control panel (right click empty desktop, Nvidia control panel shows up as an option).

Go into Nvidia control panel, set your resolution for 1280 X 960. If you can't get that high, or you can and want to go higher resolution, just remember those numbers (the smaller number is always "H" or "height".)

2. Now go into the Steamapps file, and the fallout4 prefs file, and change your settings as described above, make the resolution same as the resolution you just set in the nvidia control panel. so it looks like below. (If you can't get that resolution, set the numbers to the exact numbers of the resolution you set your computer monitor)

3. the only variable is the isize H and W, set the rest "0" and "1" as below

bTopMostWindow=0
bMaximizeWindow=1
bBorderless=1
bFull Screen=0
iSize H=960
iSize W=1280

now it ought to work!
