Exanima
Any news on the next update?
Wondering if anyone has heard anything about the next update. Heard something about ogres and duel wielding but that is about it.

I'm pretty new to Exanima but I absolutely love this game to death. It has such great potential and I need more. Also I was wondering if there is some sort of update schedule or anything compariable.

Trying my damnedest to promote the game to as many people as I can. Some showed interest but they were worried about what they said, "looks like inconsistant updates." If there is anything that I can point them to I'd really like to know.

Thanks guys.

Content is released when it's in a playable state and ready to be tested, not on a set schedule. The devs are all multi-tasking and working on dozens of things at once so it's very hard to predict when something will be ready; it's definitely not a linear development process.

Recently the devs have made progress on: improved attack animations, improved transitions between movements, improved footwork (less swaying/drunk appearance), improved parrying/blocking, added new skills (including dual wielding), ogres, dyes and other new equipment to the arena mode, additional game music/tracks, further development on the dialogue mechanics, thaumaturgy mechanics, graphical improvements to the engine... those are just some of the things I can think of off the top of my head. However, not all of this will be in the next patch but most of the arena related stuff will be.

A patch is close to being ready for pre-testing and usually about a week after that is when it goes live on Steam. The devs tend to avoid giving specific dates because they are only rough estimates which may be off by a day or several months (depending on how things go and what unexpected issues arise). The development is going well and they're making significant progress in many areas :).

Exactly what I was looking for!

Thank you for the detailed update Tony, and providing it before the thread degenerated into the usual mess this request spawns.

We are very appreciative of you sharing this information with us.

The outdoor arena map has been created and worked on some but I don't think it'll be ready for this upcoming patch.

thanks for the info! I wish developers would make a little monthly anouncemets like: "we work on this features" and a couple of screenshots! I visit the game hub every day, but there are no news at all.:steammocking:

If you want to check out the (huge) animation and general combat improvements you can take a look a this snippet from my last stream:

For the record, we weren't actually planning on doing any work on animation with this update, but when we added dual wield and ogres the animation system just couldn't keep up. It's unintentionally turned into the biggest animation system and asset update yet.

Wow the animations have come quite a long way even between last update and this one. Those overheads man, wow they look great. I don't see how people can say that looks like drunken movement....

You guys should post more stuff like this. Every little bit of PR helps, keeps people interested and excited.

Wow, very impressive and I'm now fully confident in the next update. Please, take as much time as you need. Keep things sharp.

Just a random note: some of the music Madoc plays during streaming is actually stuff created for Sui Generis and some are work-in-progress tracks.
