I thought the purpose of this game being for sale on steam was to bypass the launcher and login stuff altogether and handle all username type stuff via steam. like how games like left 4 dead work..

however it seems when i launch the game via steam it simply launches the elite dangerous launcher and asks me to login with elite dangerous..

I did not buy the game in the first place because i did not want to deal with a non steam login..

I saw it was on steam.. saw on the store page that it only requires eula agreement and not another login..

yet here i sit.. another login screen in my face.... 60 bucks wiser.

im guessing i will have to make an account.. awsome..

It's pretty common nowadays for games to have their own launchers. The comparison with Left 4 Dead is not ideal as that is one of Valve's own games, so Steam is their launcher.

If it's not made clear an account is needed to play then that should probably be changed on the Store page, but otherwise you could have found this out with a bit of research.
