http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=499732860

Hey Survivors!

We’ve got great news! Alienware has agreed to extend the ARK Modding Contest deadline by 4 weeks to provide everyone the best chance to polish off their Mod for final submission! For those of you who are just entering the modding scene or need a refresher in regards to the contest, you’ll be able to read more about it here![na.alienwarearena.com]

Here's the new timeline for you guys:

The Entry Period has been extended and now will last from August the 13th to November the 3rd

The Community Voting and initial round of judging will take place from November the 4th to November the 17th - so be sure to spread the word and make sure to vote for your favorite mod!

The final winners will be announced after internal judging on December the 4th

Remember guys! You cannot win unless your mod has been formally submitted to the contest page[na.alienwarearena.com]. So if you’d like to enter for a chance to win the fantastic prizes, be sure to enter your mod!

And for those who need a little reminder for what you’ve got the chance to win..

Grand Prize (1st Place)

$15,000 USD, Alienware Area-51 Desktop, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 TI Graphics Card and a Sponsored Server listing on TopARKServers!

2nd Place

Special thanks to Alienware and NVIDIA GeForce for providing these extra prizes to the winners! We’d also like to give a shout-out to TopARKServers who have kindly offered to provide the winners of the contest a sponsor listing on their website for life!

The response so far from the Community to the Alienware contest and the ARK Dev Kit has been pretty amazing! We’ve had over 250+ mods posted to Steam’s workshop since the contest began 5 weeks ago. Some fantastic work has gone into a lot of the mods from completely primitive total conversions, to brand-spanking new hairstyles, the ability to breed your own dinosaurs, the introduction of new structures, weapons, armors, items, gas powered vehicles, customized dinosaurs, alternative translations and gorgeous hand-designed maps that will take survivors to new worlds! It’s truly remarkable and we’re so proud of you guys, so keep it up and cannot wait to see more!

If you haven’t had a chance to experience these alternative ARKs and new player-features, we definitely encourage you to do so, head over to the ARK’s Steam Workshop and start evolving your game!

And for those of you who want to enter the contest, but aren’t quite sure how to get started…

ARK Development Kit

We have released a development kit, with a streamlined version of the UE4 Editor to simplify the creation and sharing process of ARK: Survival Evolved mods! You can download it for free via the Epic Games launcher here![www.unrealengine.com]

Be sure to share your mods on the workshop, enter the contest and for all the extra details check out the Unreal Engine 4 ARK Survival Evolved forums![forums.unrealengine.com] and the Alienware ARK Modding Contest page![na.alienwarearena.com]

Best of luck to all those enter and we cannot wait to see what you come up!

All the best,

Wildcard Jat and the ARK Survival Evolved Team!

First! And good luck to all the modders!

Aww, I was really looking forward to October because of this contest, but totally acceptable that the modders get more time to polish. It'll only benefit everyone in the end.

Good luck to the modders. Personally, not interested in the computer, video card, or the server ad thing...
I build my own computers. I've already got that video card in all of them.... and well... a server ad, not a big deal to me personally.

I don't have the time to learn the moding, or I might even try.

While the money, and the graphics cards are nice, alienware is not what it used to be. They're just slightly suped up Dells. AlienWare should have never sold to Dell. The original AlienWare guys now make bada** computers like AlienWare USED to under a different company name, Origin PC's

How old is your alienware 17? It works great on my tier 2 alienware purchased in spring of this year, but my partners tier 1 can't handle it. This game is a lot on hardware

soooooo the prize is a pc that you already have if you can run the software to 3d model and animate with the proper shaders to match a mod to the game world? FWAAAAHAHAHAHAHA good friggen joke guys... double the cash and it will pay for the time off work to make something for you guys. Screw copy paste computers with video cards that are not HSA compatable and pay me to make game content. Oh wait... thats called a job... and i need a piece of paper to prove i know SHTUFF :steammocking:

'souped up' not suped up. :) Plus any ready made system is junk compared to what an individual can make themselves.
Not only that, but as stated, once aquired by Dell, Alienware lost it's originality and bada**-ness that made them famous. Origin may be overpriced, but at least it's better than Alienware became lol. I have a monster pc now so I'm not worried about it, but had I the money months ago, I may have gotten an Origin

hey ark developers i think i know why your game is failing, why your reviews are below 75% positive. your game eats memory up like a fat kid eats tacos, this is due to your coding and if your using a C-based programming software your memory allocation is not freeing itself. so in the code you have malloc(); then to free that memory up you type in free(). this should stop your game from looking like mario of the N-64 and still eating up 4 gbs of memory.

I haven't been able to play ark in a long time becuase it runs like garbage without a pumped up pc, maybe fix the memory eater before you keep adding content?
Uzumi 23 out. 2015 às 11:45
Do note cheese the people adding stuff is not the one that does with the basecode or art for that matter, all have seperate roles and jobs
