While i understand this, there are other ways to allow easy modding. For example by configuring any ship, stat, star systems(the not-rng ones) tech, npcs and their dialogues, by xml files or something similar and completly unpacked.
For example:
<weapon>
<name>Kulins Super Deathray</name>
<id>xyz</id>
<mesh>standardturret.mesh</mesh>
<texture>standardtexture.texture</texture>
<texture_color>00FF00</texture_color>
<effect_color>FF0000</effect_color>
<sound>standardlaser.wav</sound>
<rate_of_fire>0</rate_of_fire> //0=continous
<energy_drain>1</energy_drain>
<dps>10</dps>
<damage_type>heat</damage_type>
<rarity>rare</rarity>
<min_level>10</min_level>
</weapon>
I know its much to ask for. But is there anything like this? :D I would love a nice space game with good mod support.
For modding to 'work' I'd probably need to release a tool, or a command-line option on the game-proper that could take new raws and convert them to bins in a fresh package on the shipping/non-dev version. (which is more or less what the dev version does). Guess we'll see how likely that becomes post ship - I don't want to make any promises I can't keep!
Explain to me this, when you get a chance, cause i really don't understand you two. What drugs are you guys snorting up? It's stupid crazy. Here's 2 developers making one of my most anticipated game I've been wanting for YEARS and still looks, played and has more going for it than 80% of these garbage DLC ridden "AAA" (I use that term loosely) games.
I hope this game sells like hotcakes. I know almost every person out there who big into space games is drooling for this.
Just like, end my misery and release it soon. I'm injecting heroin into my eye balls to numb the pain of waiting.
