X3: Terran Conflict
stations blowing up
Anyone having trouble with stations blowing up ???? Played it over and over the station blows up same time every time . Tried shut it down , removing products . Nothing running into it . This has happed before , but reload the game to previous save and has changed the out come . The station has been there for hundreds of game hours . The silicone mine is gone . If I could rebuild or destory the remaining stations and start over would work . But the station debris remains .

the debris will vanish in in a certain amount of time.. do not ask me when exactly.

anyways... your case sounds like a typical clipping situation.

that happens when one station touches the geometry of an other station, in this situation the station with the lowest shields will always get destroyed.

trying to drag the station with a tractor beam will speed this process and eventually both touching stations will get destroyed.

sorry that i cant help further but i hope this informations help to prevent those situations in the future.
Always deploy a advanced satelite in sectors you want to build complexes, then hit k when in the build station map screen to make objects look 3D and see their geometry in detail for precise placement.

Also when placing the new station, select an existing one and hit numpad 5 to fully aling the new station to the existing one then move the new station in one direction untill geometry does not touch. Perfect placement made easy. :-)

Thanks didn't know the K or 5 thing when building . I play X3 for maybe 5years or more off and on . I have about 8 station complexes . Never had one just blow up , unless a ship ran into it . This station has been there for 100's of game hours . Hoping the new X4 is close to X3 with better station complexes .
If you are not in the same sector there wont be any damage, as there is no colision OOS.

But I'm not saying this was the cause, but stations dont just blow up for no reason.

The other challenge is to get the connector tubes connected right so they don't have goofy angles. I spent many hours reloading over and over trying to properly position stations for complexes so the connector tubes aren't all ugly and a tangled mess. It's the one aspect of x3 that I hope is, and appears to be greatly improved in x4. Of course, the rest of x4 looks like rebirth 2, but that's another thread.
