The Talos Principle - Update 257812 - public beta
Build 257812 for The Talos Principle is now available in beta "publicbeta", which does not require a password.

To install the beta, do this:
- locate the game in the Steam's "Library" panel
- right click and invoke "Properties"
- select the "Betas" tab
- choose "publicbeta"

NOTE: If you want to later change back from publicbeta to default, savegames may be lost! We test for forward upgrades, but not in the other direction.

Here are the changes:

New features:
- Added native 64-bit support for Linux.
- Added support for Vulkan graphics API on 64-bit Windows and Linux platforms. To use it, you must start The Talos Principle in 64-bit mode (when prompted by Steam's popup launcher). Then, in the game's menu, select Options / Graphics Options / Graphics API, and choose Vulkan from the drop-down menu. Of course, make sure you have the latest drivers installed prior to starting the game.
- On Linux, it may be necessary to switch to Vulkan via +gfx_strAPI "VLK" command line parameter, as dynamic switching via menus may cause issues. Also, it is recommended to delete Talos.ini file from UserData folder prior to starting the game with Vulkan for the first time on Linux. The path should look something like this:
/home/[user]/Steam/userdata/[userid]/257510/local/Talos.ini

Bug fixes:
- Fixed a crash on game startup on OSX.
- Fixed shader issues with open source OpenGL drivers on Linux.

Talos.log shows "Loaded "libGL.so.1" " and "Gfx API: OpenGL" even when game is launched with +gfx_strAPI "VLK"

You need to launch the 64-bit version to use Vulkan. If it doesn't appear as a launch option, please try restarting the steam client.

Yes this fixed the problem.

Hope this helps! The time stamps are reversed for "no msaa" because I worked bottom to top going back but I'm sure it's not important and I put them in the same order for copying them onto this thread. All results are in first person view with fov @ 75.00, vsync and frame smoothing off. Am using a Samsung 840 1TB SSD with windows pagefile turned off.

A comment by AlenL 1-2 days ago made it sound like the demo also has access to the Vulkan stuff.

I'd give all you Croteam guys a raise if I could. You guys are awesome!

Thanks for the Link, but there is no install button for me. And yeah, they said you can test that with the demo, that's why I tried to install the demo, but I can't find a install button anywhere.

There is, didn't you read at the top? I just finished running the benchmark.

You are right. I remember there was a demo button also on the Store Page of the main game:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/257510/
Not sure if I don't see it anymore, because I bought it.
Jasem Feb 19, 2016 @ 11:25am
And switching between OpenGL and Vulkan is unstable in game, it just leads to black screen. So you have to set +gfx_strAPI "VLK" in the launcher custom options as suggested by Robert.

Furthermore, even if you start it in Vulkan, if you try to change any graphics settings that requires "Apply" then this leads to another black screen.
NoXPhasma Feb 19, 2016 @ 11:25am
No, there is no button: https://i.imgur.com/oJBhdxj.png

I can't even install it when I use this command: steam://install/330710

*edit*
Now I was able to install the demo with the command, I changed to public beta but I have no Vulkan option. Yes, I have the Nvidia Vulkan beta driver installed :)

No dice on Intel (Arch with icd driver installed), Vulkan option doesn't even show up (nor 64bit for that matter), though I'm on DEMO if that makes any difference.

Same here, running the x64 build of the demo from the directory (there is no option when launched by the library). But there is no Vulkan option. Probably this is still the old Linux build of the demo.

*edit*
Log says it's build 257812, strange.

*edit2*
Ok, found the issue, even if you run the x64 build from the directory, it will launch the game through Steam, and Steam launches the x32 build.
