I'm trying to give this game a fair shot, but the game is hard in a way that simply isn't fun for me. I could see players of ultra-hard games maybe enjoying it, because everything feels possible... but for people who can dodge, jump, attack, and block in a one second window, using controls that feel like they're from the SNES era, in a bad way. If you can't get through that, then you'll be lost with a *terrible* map, samey corridors, inconsistently hard platforming, and countless enemies positioned to knock you off platforms, all while having no idea about who any of these characters are.

That last bit is especially frustrating, because I was even trying to follow the story, because so many reviews talk about the lore of the game, but at least at the start it's just "there are angels and demons, and they're both awful to humans. Now your boat has exploded because of a secret third thing." so you look at the lore and it's like "your dad was in the demon army until one day he was framed and disappeared" and... that doesn't help me. I'm trying to rescue my crew, of whom I have seen three in an opening cutscene and have found 5 other people who talk to me for one line of dialogue and disappear. Nobody says anything much deeper than "demons and angels are all jerks, go kill some."

Could be a gem of a game, but could use a lot of polishing. The menus remind me of playing a game on my phone. There's basic information that should be there but it isn't, and it's a hassle to change skills and things. The minimap could use some work. A fast travel item back to town would be nice. Essential NPC's are out of the way to get to for no reason. But by far the thing that made me quit halfway through are the controls. The game doesn't follow it's own rules. Sometimes you'll grab onto a ledge, sometimes you'll fall down 2 screens of map. Get it on sale.
