I really wanted to like this game, it's been on my wish list for so damn long and once I got my hands on it I was extremely excited. Unfortunately only after it playing it for a couple hours am I just not able to recommend it to anyone, unless you’re a glutton for punishment like you would not believe.
I personally got as far as the guardian temple, and what looked like a boss with the fire element.
My first encounter with frustrations in this game was in the form of an brutish enemy with a shield. You cannot attack them after their spell, and you cannot jump over them as they just knock you away. The stealth spell works to move around them, but eventually I fought one in small space where there’s no room to jump, without mana I was forced to backtrack or wait until I had mana to pass it.
There are other problems mostly in terms of gameplay; not knowing anything of what to do next, enemies juggling you without reprieve, and being 100-0'd by normal enemies let along a boss.
I kept going but I finally just gave up when I walked into a room in the guardian temple (ended up being a boss room), and when the character animation played (of Wyatt walking in) it put me directly into a square spike that landed multiple hits, instantly killing me.
Upon reviving with the life potion, and starting the boss fight I was treated to the boss jumping into the air and landing a huge barrage of fire based attacks, pushing me into a geyser and obliterating my health 100-0. This was when I put the controller down and was done; I'm all for a difficult game and like to be challenged but for this to be "normal mode" is absolutely asinine.
The game is beautiful; I loved the art and the soundtrack, but those alone are not worth the headache the gameplay gave me.
