Farming?
Has anyone managed to get a farm going in 7.9? I tried it in 7.6 and the seedlings disappeared? The land is tilled and has irrigation channels filled with water running through but no joy. Any sensible advice? The wiki just tells me to do as I have done... don't say nothing about the corn seeds shrinking, then spinning and finally disappearing or the blue berry bushes sliding around and also disappearing.

Did you remember to use a hoe on the land first to "till it"? Seeds won't plant unless it's on tilled land - it gets darker when a hoe is used on it first (a right-click).

Yes, a left-click with a Hoe is an attack, right-click is the special action (tilling). That should solve your problem and let you be the farmer you always knew you could be!

YAY! that was it, thought i was getting through alot of garden hoe's!
Try making it so you have two pieces of ground next to each other surrounded by water, makes it a little easier ... http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=247850290

Damned, how to bring the water from the lake with pipes since there is no pumping device ?
How did corn grew at the big farm with no watering like you do ?

Near to a pool of water am i forced to build a tank near my field ?
I used the hoe to preapare the soil but my seeds disappeared.

Dig a narrow trench in the middle or the edges of your plot then fill it with water using a bucket. That worked for me. The seeds disappearing sounds exactly what was happening to me, follow the great advice above and it will work.

Ok, problem will be to make it narrow :p

I clicked on the left button with the hoe, resulting in big holes
Just use a bucket to bring water across, drop it in one spot and when it starts to spread out quickly pick up one end of the water and drop it someplace else, now you'll have two buckets worth of water .. if you're fast enough you can duplicate water so you have a lot of it ..

And you "Right click" to hoe the land, left clicking just digs it up ;)

Thanks.

Yeas, i know how to use the hoe, just said that i suspect i'll have some difficulties making a "small trench" so far as i only know how to make big holes :p
Point your shovel at the "point" in the ground to make a straight line .. if thats what you mean, ... I usually use this kind of method ( X=Cobblestone W=Water D=Dirt)

X X ---
X W ---
X D ---
X D ---
X W ---
X X ---

Just extend it as wide as you need, I usually just make it 10, but whatever works

Yeah, thanks, i did it :p

Not that handy, anyway. It took me a lot of hoe on each spot to be able to plant seeds.
Then my potatoe seeds just disappeared while i was moving them from a container to another one, and not fallen on the ground :/

Now i need to provide the zs to enter my field :p

How to build a ScareZombs ?

Keep Zombies out? Barbed wire perimeter! Set up metal supports in each corner and string it out. Make it 2 high and watch them do zombie shuffle when they try to get in. Needs maintenance and not pretty but easily the best ScareZomb.

I usually build farms on the top floor of a building - I use glass panes across the ceiling so the entire thing is enclosed with a roof. Otherwise you get rabbits, deer, pigs and/or zombies spawning in your farm area.
I've started surrounding my farm area with an enclosed wall, and as long as it's far enough away from your main living area the zombies rarely ever bother attacking it ... Use either a tunnel to get into it or a short set of stairs that lead up to a small gap that you can jump across ...

On your screenshot you have 3 rows of crops there, I'm thinking that when you try to harvest the 3rd one, they might pop out of the ground as they're not close enough to the water ... lookin' good tho!
