I just wanted to say I have confirmation from the development that this issue is being addressed likely for the first patch.
This issue affects the head of the player character and various combinations of Headgear(hats/hoods/helmets) + hair + facial hair.
Given that the male character has more possible combinations this makes it more likely to have issues with the male character.

i use a random caracter and it´s work but at the first you delete the saves

For now some workarounds:
Female character is less prone to issues due to less combinations, so recreating the profile as a female as temporary workaround may help.

Try randomizing to a new profile.

If you've already equipped something that is causing an issue (example Plant Fiber Hood on Male head seems to be a very common one with issues) try to obtain a different piece of headgear and wear that via the normal inventory wear option instead of trying to via the character to equip.

best workaround that really worked for me and easiest to apply:

Once you click Character tab, press ~ immediatly to open console, then wait a seccond to load your character model and you can press ~ again to hide console but still see the character screen

It works for me this temporary fix.

To facilitate the solution i set the opening command console in the Backspace key, so when i open the inventory with Tab, go clicking the icon of the character and use the Backspace soon as you close the console and view the screen properly.

saw while a friend was playing, the night vision goggles work, but they invert your view. I told him he put them on upside down, but sadly this doesn't seem to be the case :p

If you don't have a moustache, then you can't use the character screen. The problem is, moustaches are so expensive... can you even afford one?

I can't access the character screen at all... even attempting to click it results in an almost instantaneous message of array out of bounds (mac user). Until that gets fixed I can't really play the game since im unable to equip clothing of any kind

to see the character screen you have to find a folder call 7dtd in the %appdata% and delete the whole file then load up 7dtd it worked for me

male, shaggy beard no hair works fine for me so far

This works with the exception of if you already have a bugged male character on a server already in which case the new female model will not replace the male model, so it has to be a female made on a new server.
