C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\
C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\
You will find a long numbered folder. In this folder you will find the "437" which is your savegame folder
I had a really nice one when they updated uplay for the freedom cry package.
Before the DLC, I had a 98% overall completion, I then updated to the new DLC and try to launch the game which returned an internet connection error (which wasn't obviously the real reason). I then googled a bit to find that from time totime reinstalling UPLAY got rid of the issue.
After reinstalling uplay I managed to get in the game after sync with the cloud and found not a single savegame whatsoever :-).
A guy from the customer service told me that I erased my savegames when reinstalling uplay (obviously I did) but what about the cloud savegames (I really suspect they messed up and erased all my progress when they had their last maintenance).
1) Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft
2) right click the Ubisoft Game Launcher folder and choose properties
3) Click Previous Version
4) Hopefully there is a pervious version backed up. if so you can double click it in the list.
(There will be a folder in there with a long chain of numbers as its name. Inside there will be one or more folders with a couple numbers for their name. These are the gamesaves for whatever Ubisoft games you have. BLACK FLAG'S gamesave folder is '437'. Copy that one and replace your current damaged one.)
