Move standalone account to Steam?

I have been flying with the standalone account for a few months and have levelled up. I use Steam regularly - can I move my standalone account to Steam?

You don't have to. Same account works on both. Just download the Steam version and log in with the same email and password you used in stand-alone version.

Easiest way to do that is uninstall then reinstall using Steam. All your info is saved on your account so all you have to do once you start it up on steam is log into your War Thunder account using your normal WT name and password.

Cut and paste warthunder folder into steamapps, then install the game via steam. it will update 1gb, then you can play, instead of downloading 8g again.

when I install the game via steam, do i install from the page or do I register/add it to steam

you just copy your war thunder folder into the steamapps folder and download the 1gig update
then play via steam and its all good...
it just starts up war thunder like usual

thanks for your help. can you tell me the steps after pasting it into the game folder to "play via steam"?

on the war thunder (steam) store page
just play game as if you're playing war thunder for your first time
it'll begin downloading and notice that you already have most of the files needed...it'll skip most of the downloads and start downloading the "extra" parts (the 1gig i meantioned previously)

If buy something over Steam ,War Thunder will add the additional DLC´s/ITEMS/Premium automatically to your War Thunder Account ^^

All of you who answered this are amazing and super helpful. Now that it's available in steam I'd much rather just have it as my library here but the forums on the actual WT page are useless. I don't know why I didn't just come here first. Thanks again everyone!
