IMPORTANT! :: MOD USERS AND MOD CREATORS
Hi ladies and gentlemen!

As we've said numerous times, if we hit some problem, especially if the might cause ripples, we'll make sure to announce it. Here's the deal:

FOR MODDERS
The update that WILL go out later today will bring with it updates to numerous database files. This means that ANY mod that changes ANY of those databases will NOT work properly. The end result can be game crashes and weird stuff appearing in your inventory and/or on your ship(s). We'll do what we can on our side, but I'm asking all modders to PLEASE CHECK YOUR MODS AND UPDATE THEM ONCE WE RELEASE THE NEW PATCH. You can also contact us in advance if you wish and we'll provide the needed info.

FOR PLAYERS
If you encounter problems running the game due to the mods listed below, please deactivate them and run the game. You'll be able to run the game (even with some anomalies). Once the mods are updated, though, you'll probably find some strange things in your inventory or the garage. We're so terribly sorry about that, but unfortunately, at this time, there is no other way around this problem :(.

AFFECTED MODS LIST
We've taken a bit of time to compile a list of mods that will be affected because they change database files:
  • Better bounties
  • Bigger punch mod
  • Defiant
  • Drone bay mod with drones
  • Extra speed boost
  • Federation fleet
  • Heroes mod
  • Lokies enhancements
  • More banners
  • Photon torpedo
  • Revenge
  • Side missions
  • Skill swap mod
  • ST Intrepid
  • Star trek mod
  • Strike Damanhour
  • Target sound type
  • Titan mod
It is NOT 100% certain that all of the above listed mods need an update, but they change databases, so we've listed them anyway, just in case.

If any mod creator needs any help with updating their mods to the latest specs, please don't hesitate and contact us directly at modding@starpointgemini.com . I'll personally be on the lookout if any help is required.

The whole team is terribly sorry for this, but we thought about it long and hard and came to the conclusion we better do it sooner rather than later. If any other changes are done in the future, at least they won't cause the game to crash.

Sorry. I would rather I didn't have to do that. I don't like last minute bundle of bugged joy :S.
The changes to the files are great in the end for modding, will help with future updates, why didn't you guys do this in the first place :p Luckily I only had 3 mods to fix, one was just deleting a base as it's not needed now, one required deleting a base and light rescripting, but the last one, had to redo my log.txt and misc.txt then rescript 3 missions and change they're logs.wdt. You just love making me work :p

EDIT: Unfortunately we CANNOT release the update today. We've hit some critical issues and we've got to fix those first. Hopefully, it will be sorted out by tomorrow. Apologies for the delay!
No worries, take your time guys, we can wait.
Although I will probably get your team killed, eaten, chewed, drown and hanged by the meephorde in the story if you delay it any more days. Just a faint hint, nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the support guys! We appreciate it. The update should go out today. We tested it yesterday evening and the ladies and gents tested it out during the night (our night). Things look in order. We'll probably fix a thing or two more and then let it loose!
hmmm...my steam is downloading some 234MB right now...is the update out now? pretty big one, means a LOT of work. wow guys.


EDIT:v0.8000 yepp. Impossible level, here I come :-D

Yep that's the update :). Ah well... we do what we can ;).

Kidding aside, a lot of it is voice over :). Scripts and some such don't take up much space...

You guys did an amazing job with nebulae optimization. and the game is more pretty than ever - although I though it is not possible to make it more so. Blueprints got into the game, wow. Ok, enough chit-chatting, this won't get us that bounty for lunch.

Not just listed the affected mods, but the change makes future modding easier, no more having to move things around in the database when they add something, all their spots have a reserved next to them if they're going to be used in the future.

Well, it's basically our fault the mods in question don't work/wouldn't work. If we had been thinking straight from the get-go, we would have done this before mods were even introduced. It would have caused a lot less problems. This is the least we could do ;).

Danijel you should get a reward for being one of the most honest people on earth. I’ve seen you openly take responsibility for others issues in the past and I find it refreshing to see game developers like you and the others developing this wonderful game being very open and honest and putting so much effort into this project. Thanks.
