From what I gather you can turn terrain settings down to 0 without much graphical change while gaining a couple extra frames per second.
You could try changing other settigns, and see how it goes.
GTA 5 has a custom built engine with it's sole purpose of running smoothly, it also had a couple 100 million thrown into development/advertisement, which does help.
I guess the same is said for Dragon Age, they had a massive development team, and lots of money to support it.
This game is getting closer to it's completed state, so optimization will be done in the future, just gotta have some paitence.
But yeah, it is does have bad performance in some cases, I have I guess a much better PC setup, but I assume turning settings down will definitely help with performance.
Kenshi's resource demands rely very heavily on processing power. I am not familiar enough with gpus or settings to offer advice on what should and shouldn't be done, but you will likely get better performance if you do not restrict the use of your cpu.
I am admittedly a little out of date, and am not sure at this point if Kenshi utilizes more than one core. If it doesn't, then you're going to have issues with 2.4 ghz.
A common mistake is comparing "Finished" games to one still in development. They put in a new engine recently as the old one they could not optimize any more. so Optimization is very much on the books to getting worked on.
Ah that makes sense.. Yes, it can come as a surprise. The game does still need optimizations, so hopefully in time the performance will be better, but it certainly does require a different type of resource from gaphical intensive games.
With that being typed, still enjoying the game.
I am going to try that.
For my 2 cents.
I take the grapics from 0.6 to 0.4 for Terrain Detail, I have turned off grass and shadows and the grass density is set to 0. Trees are set to nearly point blank at 0.256 (I'd almost run into them before I'd see them), and my View Range is 4040. Object View Range is 3000 with decals at 1000. Texture is Medium and water reflects Landscape.
Heat haze and FXAA are off.
My game runs well enough on those, but I might tweak it a bit more now that I think about it.
Good luck with the improvements!
