It is practically the same game but with differences scattered about, it will give you a good idea on whether you will be interested in this game or not.
You can get it at this link: http://agtp.romhack.net/project.php?id=lamulana
Once there click the 'Download the Game' button and 'Download the Patch' button and just follow the readme.txt's instructions from there.
Jumping is still somewhat difficult in the Steam version, but from what I've heard of the original, the gameplay is improved in every way. Just give yourself a chance to get used to the frustrating bits!
Let me see. The original game has a much larger learning curve. The remake has a curve too, but that one is absurdly huge. Attacking with the whip is harder. The jumping has a lag to it. The ROM system is very convoluted, and the save system is admitedly pretty bad. It's not an easy game to get into, and the remake makes things a little bit easier. Along with other things, this game is beyond just a commitment. It's a religion on its own.
Despite it all, it IS a fun game while I enjoyed it, the remake is a ton better and a bit easier to get into. So, I sort of reccomend waiting around for a sale unless you are in a rush to play it.
