La-Mulana
Price drop
Any ideas if the game will go down in price any time soon? What's the lowest it's ever been?
There should be a demo, the game looks really interesting but I don't want to pay £12 just to try it out.

Get the freeware version, it is the whole game except the graphics are based off of the MSX, some of the traps are a bit unfair, certain puzzles are different/harder and certain bosses are different etc.

It is practically the same game but with differences scattered about, it will give you a good idea on whether you will be interested in this game or not.

You can get it at this link: http://agtp.romhack.net/project.php?id=lamulana
Once there click the 'Download the Game' button and 'Download the Patch' button and just follow the readme.txt's instructions from there.
Cool, thanks
No problem :)
Ok, I've played it for about 15 mins and the game is stupidly hard, mainly due to ridiculous enemy placement (going up the ladder? Too bad, there's an enemy sitting on top of it!) and clunky controls (have to attack WAY before enemy is even near you). Is the steam game pretty much an HD version of this? Is the gameplay improved at all?
For enemies above, the whip's attack range actually covers just above your head. Later on in the game, you get different weapons with different ranges, and an item that will increase your attack speed. The lag on the whip is pretty easy to get used to, though.
Jumping is still somewhat difficult in the Steam version, but from what I've heard of the original, the gameplay is improved in every way. Just give yourself a chance to get used to the frustrating bits!
I don't understand why people are reccomending the orignal game. It's a commitment enough to finish the remake.

Let me see. The original game has a much larger learning curve. The remake has a curve too, but that one is absurdly huge. Attacking with the whip is harder. The jumping has a lag to it. The ROM system is very convoluted, and the save system is admitedly pretty bad. It's not an easy game to get into, and the remake makes things a little bit easier. Along with other things, this game is beyond just a commitment. It's a religion on its own.

Despite it all, it IS a fun game while I enjoyed it, the remake is a ton better and a bit easier to get into. So, I sort of reccomend waiting around for a sale unless you are in a rush to play it.
The game was in several bundles with the option that you get a steam key if it is released via greenlight, so the loweest price 1$-ish
I think it's worth the price, but you can always wait and hope that it'll go on sale again someday.
