Verify the game files, run it as admin, restart the PC. Sometimes battleye forgets to turn off and never installs
It is some doubtful 3rd party program with no description other than: "We promise we dont spy on you".
And you know, all malware programs say that.
Am never instaling that sht. If it was really necessary Dayz should have it integrated into the game itself. But as it is now: "here's our game, thank you for your money, oh by the way 0 servers for you unless you wish to install this thing... use at your own risk."
This is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ daylight robbery. I'd say even more, pretty sure that at the time of release (exactly on the first day, and this is when I bought the game) there was no battleye. Now I come back and see that I cant even play it
Google Battleye, their website describes what they do. Thousands and thousands of ppl have downloaded it and not had any problems. Blame the hackers and cheats for us needing it, it's legit for heavens sake.
Why don't you just get a refund if you're so paranoid about an anti-cheat that nobody has any problems with?
He can't get a refund, according to him he has had it since day one and has 28 hours on it, shame eh?
Fun fact:
Games such as Ark, The Isle, Planetside 2 and H1Z1 (plus the Arma series & DayZ) all use Battleye. Why is that a fun fact? Because they are massive online games with probably close to a combined million player user base and they all are required to use Battleye.
Simply put, you're overreacting.
Yet the idea of Battleye and VAC being implemented for DayZ was widely discussed and, without outright saying "we will be using Battleye", it was fairly obvious.
yeah and I guess all those people never had anything bad happening to their private data? Right, all documented.
Thanks, if I had any doubt in some shady bs going on, several random guys from the internet boosted my confidence and trust to shady programs... /sarcasm
you know there's a thing called rl, it kinda happens outside of internet (yes there is stuff outside)
I actually didnt want a refund, I like dayz and after 2 years I finally decided to play it, only to find out that I cant without some bs. Shame on devs for that really.
And what hackers have to do with it at all? Can't make a safe game? Yeah sure lets throw it all at our players, its gonna be their personal risk to use 3rd party programs, while we just grab their money...

Ok, you made your point here on the discussion page. You choose not to download Battleye so you can't play DayZ or any of the other games that use it. Why not take it up with Battleye? I don't know what you hoped to gain from venting here, where everyone has downloaded it and had no problems. People who have had Battleye since it was implemented.
I thought I made this clear as well. I dont trust random 3rd party program, and a couple random internet guys won't change that.
What I hoped to hear is that its temporary measure. The game still in alpha, after all. Hoped to hear there's not gonna be any 3rd party bs later.
Dude. Battleye is the primary anti-cheat service used by Bohemia for all of their games, as well as multiple other studios. You get third party software to fill certain utilities for almost everything these days. Do you use anti-virus software? Bam, third party software for protecting your PC where microsoft security doesn't hack it.
So either download it and stop being a crybaby (who seems to be suspiciously at odds with an ANTI-CHEAT piece of software, perhaps you wanted to indulge in a little scripting? Or perhaps you're just pirating it and got caught out) or say that it's not worth your time if you need Battleye. Because Battleye is not going anywhere.
Please tell me your running windows 10 after all this??? oh and using google chrome?
The measure would be to do some research before you trow your money at Steam.
Ignorance isn't a defense.
