Melee animations need to be more fluid and faster.
Melee is most likely the way you are going to survive from either zombies or players attacking you. the current animations and speed from key press to actually meleeing is way too slow.

atleast give players a chance against a player with a gun. also if you running after someone and try and melee the time taken to melee the player is long gone due to the pause time taken to perform the melee. which is quite silly.

the melee should be instant with no delay.why would you stop movement to perform melee ? you wouldnt.

if you stand at side of a guy with a gun he can fire a shot at you but you cant melee him within the same time frame because of the animations and speed of performing them.

its really a simple tweak which would improve gameplay greatly for such a small tweak.

Are you drunk? Melee is pretty damn quick in this game. "Give players a chance against others with a gun". Not like you usually knock somebody out in two hits to the face. It wouldn't improve the gameplay atall imo, since fresh spawns will just run up on you and ♥♥♥♥ you up in no time. That's what they already do and will always do, your idea wouldn't help. People already complain about the melee being way too strong. But as it is right now it's only a place holder i believe so it's gonna be changed up eventually when the new player controller is in.

why does everyone comment in dayz threads like they are a god or just wrestled a aligator ?

the animations for melee are clumsey and slow. over complicated. a single swipe is enough. i get the people who do them need something to do but look at the simple aspect of melee and what is really needed.

so dont give me its fine as it is.it isnt.its overly clunky for the sake of it.

the original just hack or chop was simplier and easier and faster. a lot better. it did its purpose with as little fuss as possible to get the objective done. which is to melee.

simple = best.

As I already said, it will eventually get changed up with the new player controller and with the melee system/damage we have right now you would probably be able to knock out an alligator.

Nothing is a "simple tweak" in programming

Also these games are made to be as realistic as possible. This isn't hollywood, the gun will always win

yes the 3/4 animations and stopping is realistic.no.

it was simple before.the animators made the process of meleeing more complex when its a simple action.without gameplay knowledge of dayz or games in general and by that i mean playing then not ! making them you can clearly define whats extra pizazz over substance.or needed.

what do you need from a melee action ? break it down simple. the melee object/item to chop hit what you aiming at.thats it.


so if the object is in hand just tthe action of swinging is needed.nothing more.also slowing a person down to a stop to perform the action is also stupid.

can no one move and do a action in reality if thats your arguement ? of course you can.why ? because its a simple process ! thats why.

If you're standing next to someone with a gun, and you both "attack" at the same time, the gun is obviously going to win and it should. Guns only require the squeeze of a trigger and bullets fly much faster than the time it takes for you to wind up and strike.

no. first you have to raise the gun aim and fire. with a simple melee mechete in hand for eg its just chop so there would be nothing in it infact the melee should be quicker.not only that if you want to factor in reloading also bolt rifles and such some need other additions before firing.

none of which is needed in a melee action.so it should be quicker.it is a simplier process.

ask yourself. what is simpier to do swing a mechete or fire a gun. think about it.be honest. the pure simpleness is the melee action.not the gun.argue debate whatever melee is easier.
