No Sound?

I'm running windows 8. I played the game a while back and everything was fine. I reinstalled Don't Starve about two weeks ago and now I can't hear anything. No music nor sound. I try to turn up the volume and when I click "apply" it just goes back to zero. Any help?

I got a problem alike yours. But my game doesn't goes back to zero. Mine is set on 10 but I still cannot hear anything. I don't know what to do, too ^-^' We are sitting in the same boat... xD

But I think, I can help you. Open My PC -> Documents -> Klei -> Don'tStarve -> Settings -> [Audio]

Then, set everything to 10 and save. I hope, it helps. Give it a try!

Hi, I've still got the same problem after setting them to 10 in the documents. They are 10 in the notepad, but still 0 in the game.

Just checked the log: FMOD Error: Soundcard does not support the minimum features needed for this soundsystem (16bit stereo output).

But mine supports 24bits and 16bits???

To anyone still having this issue after attempting all these solutions. I managed to fix all my game sound by quitting Nahmic 2 before launching my game. Hope I could help.

Thanks! had the same problem as the original post, worked perfectly to change the numbers in file.

I always play with headset, and had no sound just for this game. I did edit settings.ini which did not seem to have an effect. Quit Nahimic. Still no sound. Turns out my USB Headset (Razer Kraken) does not pick up the sound from this game. (The headset is fine. I can get the sound from a YouTube video running at the same time as the game.). Sound works both on external laptop speakers and earbuds. So I now play with earbuds plugged into the earbud port.

i had the same problem when i used hdmi or optical spdif for sound output but only on wndows10
this trick solved the problem:
1. plug in a jack plug to line out (green)
2. start the game
3. when the game started remove the plug
