This Game Feels Meaningless
Before I start this rant, I would like to let all the readers out there know that I do like this game to a certain degree. However, there are quite a few things that I absolutely hate about it, which I will now explain.

1) You cannot split up your armies on the campaign map, meaning that you can't detach a smaller garrison from your main army for strategic reasons. The only thing you can do is move units from one army to the other, which is for the most part useless.

2) The soundtrack is mediocre. Yes, I know there's a mod for the original soundtrack from the first game, but it bugs me that no one really decided to bring back the composer from the previous Total War games. In all honesty, the soundtrack sounds like it was made by some random guy who really, really wants to sound like John Williams, but does a bad job at it.

3) The voice acting is pure, genuine crap. The Roman and Greek factions have a snobby English accent, and every 'non-civilized' faction has to sound like an uneducated, random slob. There is no personality in any of these characters at all. In the original Rome Total War, Greek factions had Greek accents, Roman factions sounded brutal and awesome, and eastern factions had eastern accents. But of course, ever since Sega decided to take charge of marketing and profits, everything has to be done in a quick flash with no consideration and effort. Seriously, the voice acting feels like watching a really bad Shakespeare play.

4) The whole atmosphere of the game just tells me that the only thing Sega and the developers care about is rushing their project onto the market as fast as possible, with little consideration for the dedicated fans of this franchise. This game took AGES to patch, and a few months ago they released a 'new, original' game, which is basically the same thing, just with a few extra details on the side. It's like having Sega and CA saying "Hey there, fans! We're so glad that you guys bought Rome 2 and made us rich from it. Now, we decided to make an original sequel called Atilla, and it's basically the same thing as before! Now you guys get two things that suck!"

I kind of agree to points 2,3, and 4. Try to give your first point a little more time. I absolutely hated the whole province/garrison and limited army thing at first but have come to appreciate what it brings strategically. The soundtrack and voice acting do suck. I switched to Rome 1 music and all is good and the voice acting I just deal with. Point 4 was fixed for me through a combination of UI/graphical mods and gameplay change mods. Don't give up on the game yet, consider it a bit incomplete with finishing options to choose from in the workshop or TWC.

Well, to be fair, I have played this game for a while. I just mentioned the stuff in my first point because half the fun in the previous TW games was splitting up your armies to outsmart the enemy, which gave more strategy to it. I don't mind the garrisons in the cities, it's just that I really don't like being unable to split your armies up on the campaign map.

I suggest you tell SEGA and CA, not us players - unless you have a specific action you are asking us to do, to use this information, e.g. to sign and share a petition to SEGA and CA. Otherwise, you are not convincing the game-makers to make a better game, and you are just spreading dissatisfaction, instead of helping people to enjoy their game.

I also miss the ability to allow captains to take over and be promoted to generals. It seems that R2's mechanic for generals is closely tied to the political system. So you cannot simply recruit more generals to temporarily split your armies before disbanding the new general because it affects your influence. That said, unit transfers are still useful because you can use another already recruited general to recruit fresh units, bring them to the front and exchange depleted units for the fresh ones to keep your expansion momentum going.

Attila seems to have better reviews than R2 at release. But seeing how similar it is to R2 apart from the horde system (yet something already from BI), I'll probably wait for a good sale before deciding whether to get it.

This made me think of "1984" by George Orwell lol.

Helping people enjoy their game, so to continue being sheep and just throwing money at CA and SEGA. To eat whatever they are fed.

People need to start being dissatisfied. Otherwise these developers and publishers are going to keep bending us over.

Even if Attila has better ratings than RTW2, they're still not the best. It's a 7/10 at the most. So far, the past two Total War games went through more advertising than actual gameplay. That's probably the oldest trick in the book that has been used by so many video game companies like Sega. As long as you make an awesome cinematic trailer that gets everyone pumped up to play the game, your sales will skyrocket. And does it really matter to them if the game is good? No. The only thing that really matters is profit.

Sega and CA are only in it for the money now, so developing games as a passion and a hobby has gone straight down the toilet. Just look at the extra so-called "expansion packs" and DLCs they want to sell to you in R2 just so you can unlock a certain faction, which shouldn't have any cost whatsoever because the base game is SIXTY DOLLARS. Two years have past, and the price on that game is still the same. This so-called "extra content" is just a load of hog wash to make their cash grabs look 'legit.' It's more like adding a few restrictions to your 'full game,' which almost literally costs an arm and a leg, and then saying "Hey, if you pay extra, we'll give you this." In the previous TW games, just about all the factions were unlockable without any strings attached. But in this day and age, no.

This whole "DLC expansion" crap is pointless and is only designed to increase profit, and this isn't just happening to CA, it's happening to other developers as well.

Rome II kinda sucks. the corruption system totally puts me off playing a proper campaign. Expanding just kills the tax revenue so bad that you even start loosing your trade income too. Having played it a heck knows how long though so many the patches fixed it.

While I too am displeased about some aspects of Total War: Rome 2, how many factions are available is not one of them. TW:R2 has more playable factions without purchasing any DLC than Rome Total War did even after unlocking all of its playable factions.

Corruption really isn't that bad. You just have to build your empire taking it into account.

Here's a copy of what I posted last October about it.

Even with 90%+ corruption, a player can still make over 30k in profit each turn even with maxed out armies. If there are mods out there which reduce the corruption, they break the game... not "fix" it.
i have almost 99 corruption in every region and i got europe and north aferica under my control while maintaining only 5 armies, my income lies only on 8000

You need to reorganize your provinces. Specialize some to grow food, some to produce wealth, and only one or two to produce armies. Do that, turn your taxes up to the maximum, and you should be able to increase that profit markedly. Make sure to keep the public order in line though.

Putting my money where my mouth is, here's a screenshot of my unmodified game during my recent Augustus campaign:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=327913642

As you can see, I was earning 31,217 per turn, and my corruption was at 90.4% I also had 16 legions, and a bunch of fleets.

That's not my point. The point is that selling a game for sixty dollars, but then limiting what a player can do on that game unless they give into cash grabs, is downright stupid. And before anyone retorts by saying "well itz supposed 2 support da developers," I'll have you know that the price of the game is more than enough to support them. And since so many people have decided to support the game by buying it (yes, that includes me), Sega should start making a game that's actually good. I understand where you're coming from, though, and yes, I will admit that the game is still enjoyable, it's not as fun as other titles. There is still no denying that the gaming industry is all about money.

I think he's giving alternate meanings to his post maybe? If you read them the last line is different each post. Otherwise I haven't the foggiest.
