Indeed, it seems to be most problematic for Lion users (the main reason for my more specific post) The platform vs platform debate is not something l worry about, l run both Windows & Mac on my machine with no problems, They both have their strengths and weaknesses.
So yes, l can happily play Witcher in Boot Camp (Parallels is very respectable also). Just interested in knowing if there is a working solution on the Mac side.
Thank you for your thoughts :-)
ps: Im intrigued; What was the First biggest waste of time and money in your life?
Cheers,
DJO

Prepared to write off this game, and this game developer, as a loss. Should have checked better before buying, but didn't think Steam would sell a game that was 'ported' to mac by including a flimsy emulator.
I'm running 10.6 and the Witcher initially crashed on launch because wine was asking for firewall access in finder then getting obscured by the app taking over the window. Given that the app cannot perform app switching I wasn't able to do anything the first 10- 20 times until I finally was quicker at clicking than the app was at grabbing the screen.
Love the game but in a world of ports that barely conform to the platform they're on it's a particularly rough example, this from someone who got Skyrim to run on OSX.
To the dude ranting about the platform - the mac gets treated the way the PC does when console games are ported - no optimiation for the graphics or performance beyond the bare minimum to get the software rolling out the door.
