Anything BAD about bfg edition
So i want replay doom 3, and have original d3+roe and have d3 bfg ed. Is there any reason why i shouldn't play bfg? Maybe they broke smth?

p.s. i'm intetested in only one gfx mod, which replace textures. Anything like that? Working with bfg?

btw, is there a reason for it? I thought doom files system is primitive and easily editable...

It has to do with the achievements. They don't wanna give online advantages to players through mods/cheating.

The BFG Edition is not just a re-release of DOOM 3. they fixed the flashlight so that is now shoulder mounted on the marine armor with a battery life via "Alan Wake". Adjusted the lighting, ammo, pace of the gameplay to be more toward the original games and less of a crawl fest in the dark. They also up rez'd some of the textures and redesigned some of the levels to fall in line with the other changes. ID also had the original team add the "Lost Mission" which are 8 new levels. I have all the DOOM games and I am enjoying the BFG Ediition. While the original game with the "Absoulote HD Mod" looks pretty sweet the NPC characters look washed out and almost have a white glow, I think the NPC look much better in the BFG Edition. Yeah the bummer is that it is a new engine, loads much faster than the original release has some RAGE Tech added as well but because of that none of the current mods work, someone will have to convert them or create new ones.

I hate that white persona glow. Spoils the engagement of the game imo

you left out the part, that the BFG Edition completely removes 2 of the best parts from "Resurrection of Evil":

1) the toxic tunnel in Erebus Labs-Level 5, where you have to wear a protective hazmat suit

2) a blueish green forest area in Hell, where you fight tons of Imps, Hellknights, and Mancubi (normally reachable by teleporter)

Thats a good point, it's not the same game, they made changes. All I can say is that part where I said they did a re-design to some of the levels, in the online interview I read they said they re-played through every level and removed areas they felt were cumbersome or a bad design, things that wern't fun they wanted to improve they changed and as far as the suit goes, there was no toxic suit in the original DOOM so I would imagine with the BFG gameplay geared toward the first two games they felt the need to remove it, personally I would have kept that part but like Lucus with Star Wars, their world, their vision, at least the original release is still available if you really like those parts. :skull:

actually, all of the original "Doom" games always had the radioactive protection suit as a power-up. why it was removed from the BFG Edition, I have no idea. but what really nerfed it, was how the super-secret Wolfenstein and Grosse levels from "Doom 2" replaced the Nazis with Zombiemen.

We were talking about DDOM 3/BFG and I was using the origianl games as a reference. I did not recall them in the original games.

The white suits in the Ultimate Doom and Doom 2 are there...they're the white suits that you use to avoid being burned by fire/lava and the acid pits. I was playing the one ep in ultimate doom where the cyber demon is behind the wall with the teleport thing in the center...the suits are in that...if they weren't...you'd die. XD
