SOLVED: No sound, Windows 8 x64

PROBLEM:

This game boots up fine but has no audio. I only have one sound device enabled and it registers that the application is routing to that sound output... but there is no sound coming from the game. Any ideas?

Sound: SPDIF Out on a Creative SB X-Fi
OS: Windows 8 x64

WORKAROUND #1:

• Add the following lines to SteamApps/common/TinyAndBig/options.txt:
  

  [audio]
  backend=Generic Software
  

WORKAROUND #2 (if #1 doesn't work):

1. Move all the files (not folders) from the Tiny and Big root directory (Steam/Steam/steamapps/common/TinyAndBig) to a new folder 'backup'
   
2. Copy all the files from the folder 'bin64' to the root directory i.e. Steam/steamapps/common/TinyAndBig

Is this an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ solution? Cause I am having the same issues with this and Gunpoint. :( I am practically new on SPDIF and I would definitly go back to RCA if I have to do this for all games. :(

¡Sí Señor! It sucks for sure, but I doubt it affects too many games. They should definitely fix the issue themselves.
