That said when this hits PC its going to look incredible at a solid 60 frames and cant wait to play it again myself!
If you are a fan you not gonna be dissapointed!
People are still hyped about 60fps in PC games because even in 2015, developers have hard time trying to get 60fps in their games. A lot of times AAA games can still be at a lock 30fps.
Very few are locked at 30fps, and the few that are get unlocked quickly. It is more developer ignorance then a tehcnical issue. That and developers thinking tying a physoics system to frame rtate is a super good idea when it in reality is a terrible idea always.
With that out of the way, both would have run solid 58~60fps the whole time.
I doubt that very much. It is expensive, but RITR wouldn't be able to run 1080p @ 60fps even without it an xbox one.
let's say 900/720p @ 60fps, hair bs disabled. That would have been a more achievable target performance for xbox in both games.
It's nice and, sure, closer to classic Tomb Raider games than TR2013 was.
It still has the few things I hated about TR2013 , such as items haunting challenges and some QTE but it's promising.
Problem is, as we speak even a simplified version Tomb Raider Underworld would fail at sales cause mainstream/casual gamers these days
- want to be told what button to press and what ability to use, if there's more than one
- rely on the in-game help system (survival instinct) rather than their own eyes
- need a mini-map for everything
even TR 2013 (the best seller among all Tomb Raider games) wasn't profitable to Square Enix until not too long ago.
Problem is, casuals are the majority ;D
And if the majority of people you think might like your AAA game end up not buying your AAA game, all that's left for you , the publisher, is give up on the brand, cause the money from long time fans is just not enought to make another AAA game. Hell, not even TR2013 was profitable until not to long ago! And that's the best seller TR game ever. And of course it HAS to be AAA, cause that's what the current publisher wants TR to be, okay?
So, who do you think in the next few years would take over TR (brand synonymous of "games for gamers with a brain") if NOW (noob era of gaming) nobody bought it, despite being noob friendly while still closer to what TR fans wanted?
That's why I think the brand will die if this kind of TR game won't succeed.
The alternative is TR to go indie.
