Mac & Windows saved games not syncing via Steam cloud

I've played 10 hours of XCom EU on my iMac at home. At my campus, I have a Windows PC with Steam & XCOM EU installed (but no play time yet). When I launch Xcom on the Windows PC, there are no Xcom saved files there. Isn't Steam Cloud supposed to sync my saved game files from my iMac to this Windows PC? I do see that it says 'Syncing' when I quit Xcom on the Mac...so I assumed it was uploading the saved game files to the Steam Cloud.

I manually copied from windows and pasted it on my mac. Savegames are working but let's see about sync.

Btw if you know how to create symlink, i can suggest backup your saves at mac to dropbox. But then because of lame windows system, you need to manually sync it with your local saves.
Check this out, this is only for mac to mac. As i said you need to do it on windows manually i guess.

I'm going to do what you suggested (transferring saved games from my Mac to PC via Dropbox, manually). Hope it works. I think it will, but not sure about 'syncing'. Did 'syncing' work on your windows>mac saves transfer?

There was an issue with the setup on the Steam servers. Working with Valve this has been fixed and save game syncing works Mac/PC using the SteamCloud.

Not on my end it doesn't, edddeduck. At least, not so far. When were the changes rolled out? You're the one who works for Feral, right?

Yes, I work for Feral. For my sins I was the main person setting up the Steam version :)

Valve tested and confirmed it was working last night (we don't control the sync Valve do). Perhaps you need to delete (backup first) your Mac saves to trigger the syncing?

If you still have issues after a few days drop our support an email and we can look into it with you and check again with Valve. Mac / PC sycning is mostly used by Valve in their own games and it is a pretty new feature for third party Mac games so it's possible their are a few issues surever side that need resolving.

So I started a game on the pc... saves didn't show up on my mac until july 26 or so.. so I played the cloud saved verson on the mac but those new saves don't seem to be syncing back to the cloud for when I went back to my pc. So it seems to be half way working now.

If you had saves on both Mac and PC before Syncing was enabled on the 26th it can get confused I suspect. With a new setup Mac / PC and Mac / Mac seems to be working fine.

If you can find any reproducable issues I can pass them on to my contact at Valve so they can investigate.

Any issues before the 26th was because Valve did not fully enable Mac / PC Steam Cloud saving until that date.

It seems to be working now, eddeduck. But not fully. Still a bit wonky. I suspect a clean setup would be fine.

I had only pc saves before the 26th. I then continued those save on the mac. So If I go in to the PC and delete all my saves should they then sync up from the mac since that is where the saves I want to contine are located?

In theory Destroyer thats how I would see it working but I would back them up just in case as I don't have direct access to how the sync logic works and I don't want you losing any progress :)

It seems that while my old (February) Steam games on my PC properly sync to my Mac, new games I make on my PC (September) refuse to sync down to my Mac. I actually deleted the Mac's "savedata" folder, ran XCOM, watched as it recreated the folder and downloaded all my old games, but as soon as it attempted to download my newest games from September, it stopped, and then I got the message about how it couldn't sync.

So there is something about the recent saves on PC that is confusing to my Mac version of Steam and XCOM.
