XCOM: Enemy Unknown
What is ironman mode?
Does it give all my soldiers some red and gold armor with built in rocket launchers and stuff?

I've been playing normal but am thinking about changing, so just wondering what effect it has.

Thanks!

Ironman basically autosaves the game after every turn, and after everything you do in the base. You can't manually save (except when you save and exit). The point of it is, you only end up with one save-game, so if something goes wrong, like you lose your squad, you can't just reload and try again. Once something happens, it saves and you're stuck with it.
Ah ok thanks for the answer :)
clarification: it autosaves the game, but uses ONLY ONE save slot, hence erasing the old autosave after every action.
Classic is just the difficulty right?

Eg, more enemies and enemies move around in the fog etc etc?
They also have slightly more HPs, with your soldiers having slightly less, and their to-hit and crit rolls are enhanced.
I wish it did give the troops gold and red armour and rocket launchers, that would be cool.
Stan Lee would sue Firaxis blind if they did that, excelsior!
so if your 1 and only save file gets corrupted then you're screwed? hmmm. no thanks.
4 campaigns in ironman mode, so far... No save corrupted... *shrug*
