Alien base assault

When troops arive at Alien Base and after looking at tubes a box pops up with no writing inside and when i click the OK button nothing happens. I'm unable to do the base assault, started second game and same thing happened.

You playing Enemy Within? Same happened to me. It's a graphics bug I think. Hit Crt Alt Del. Restart the game. Before loading the mission, go to graphics options and nerf everything. Load the mission. Once Bradford has finished talking you can pause the game and put the graphics settings back up to where they were. It won't happen again.

Yea Enemy Within, and the box still comes up with nothing written inside, click on the OK button and nothing happens. Anyone else have this Box pop up when it goes to where you are suppose to be albe to move your troops.

Another thread mentioned bringing along MEC troopers causes the problem.

Supposedly if you go through the mission without any, the game works perfectly fine.

I followed the advice on reloading the game and nerfing the graphics, did not work, still have the box and Bradford does not comment. Still trying to continue this game, but without alien base can't go forward.

Sorry my fix didn't work for you. I'm sure it's a bug that will be addressed in a patch (sometime). Good luck.

Thanks, I think its a problem with Steam, I am going to buy a boxed xcom and go from there. If it is a bug, then the developer is responsible.

Just wanted to say thanks - I ran into the same bug, and this advice got me past it.

Hit the same bug under MacOS Mavericks, dropped the screen size to 800x600 and made it through as described above. Note only 800x600 worked.

I hadn't this bug with a non Steam version, ie Mac version. I use 1600*1000, and had one MEC. But I use medium graphic setup. Also during some sequence in the Xcom base I got something rather similar, ie blocked in a dialog and some button doing nothing.

had same problem sorted it by pressing esc button while troops coming down lines , it cuts short the intro &goes back 2 the game then u just wait until bradford does his talk & game works ok

Same problem

The windows message is empty, with the accept option only.
Does not work accept, or scape, (Do nothing) or work if i try to play with the message
Graphics quality is at the lowest level
There is a lot of free space on the hard disk
No unnecessary tasks running in Windows
No virus, trojan or malware.
To finish the game I must finish the task of Xcom, there's no another option.
The game works perfectly on other missions

Some of the developers should fix it and give us some explanation
Great game, really enjoy it, but great bug too.
Until you solve Steam should not continue to sell this flawed game

FIX It

solved only have to press Esc several times while you're watching the video of the soldiers descent by the rope. The video stops and the menu is activated by the press of esc (the normal menu save, load, etc. out to the desktop....)
When you close the menu, the popup window is no longer.
