Crysis is not working

I downloaded crysis and after it downloaded a gamespy comrade install wizard popped up. So I tryed it and it didn't install correctly so I ignored it. I have windows 64 bit and I don't know if that is the problem. When I click on the crysis logo on my desktop page or in the steam library a black screen pops up for about 20 seconds and then it says Crysis has stopped working windows is finding a solution to the problem. Well I know windows and it never solves those problems. I downloaded the second crysis and it worked fine so I am confused. Someone please help.

Sounds like the same problem I had. The first time I downloaded Crysis, it installed a bunch of stuff, and then refused to start. So I uninstalled the game and everything I could find related to it and reinstalled. It then worked fine, although I'm still unsure why. I'm running Windows 8 64 bit, if that helps.

From what I gather, you do not need GameSpy for single player. Other than that I'm not sure, I just redownloaded and reinstalled the entire game. It seemed to work.

Yeah, I've been having the same problem. Installs GameSpy, won't start. I've uninstalled and reinstalled from backup even redownloaded it, it still won't work. I am running Win 8 32bit, so you guys with 64bit Win 8 aren't alone. This really sucks.

Well I also reinstalled the game and i didn't worry about gamespy. I also tryed the -DX9 and that didn't seem to work

I'm giving it another go, I'd determined to get this bloody game working. If I come up with any solutions, I'll post.

Had the exact problem, i just tried this: http://steamcommunity.com/app/17300/discussions/0/864945401070748061/ and it works perfectly fine. I have Windows 7 64bit. It appears the steam download doesnt add the 64bit files for the game which is stupid.

Edit: Oh and unfortunately you will need to start the game from this 64bit exe and not via steam, so you wont have steam overlay etc, its a shame but it gets the game working.

the only time i had a problem with this game is when i used to have that crappy amd 8 core cpu it wouldnt start i contacted ea and it turns out the game will only run in 64bit wich the steam version does not suport so ea gave me a free copy to run on origin not a problem now though as i upgraded to intel so there you go if you have one of those fx excuse for a cpu you need to contact ea as the steam version is only 32bit

sorry, Austin, I don't have a solution for you, but I'm having the same issue.
I'm re-downloading now, I'll post again when/if the thing works.
