Getting Crysis to run in 64-bit

O.k so here is the fix, grab the Bin64 file here, http://dl.dropbox.com/u/71527378/Bin64.zip

Unzip it and paste it into the following directory where you have steam installed Steam\steamapps\common\Crysis

In this folder, do the following.

Rename the Bin32 file to Bin32.bak
Now rename the Bin64 file you downloaded to Bin32

You can now running Crysis in 64-bit.

There should really be a sticky for this in the steam forums. It's disgraceful the amount of people that can't run this game. This fix doesn't seem to work for everyone, but it did for me.

Also http://steamcommunity.com/app/17300/discussions/0/864945309941708728/ if your game is crashing after changing the settings. Again not for everyone.

I feel your pain Fin, sorry I couldn't help. The first time I installed Crysis a few years ago, it took me a couple of days to figure out all the problems.

When you tried add exceptions to your anti-virus software what did you add? this is what I used.

Same prob here with the crysis bundle. Tried the suggested fixes too.

Latest amd drivers
win 7 64bit
fx 4100 @ 4.8ghz, latest motherboard bios from august 2012
8gb ram
128ggb ocz agility 3
1gb vtx radeon 7770

Black screen, go to task manager and get program not responding. Not amused!!

2nd edit, For the DVD fix, instead of the following instructions, right clicking on Crysis in your library, then goto properties/local files and verifying the integrity of the game cache seems to work better.

To fix the “Insert DVD” problem just go to your Crysis directory and copy the files “GL.ini” and “paul.dll” from the original folder Bin32 (Which you would have named Bin32.bak) and paste them in the folder named Bin32 (the new one). Voila, now it loads.

Make back-ups first (just incase) if not then just delete the downloaded file and rename the original file Bin32.bak back to Bin32. Don't worry guys it's an easy fix. I'm only trying to help.

I'm just editing to add that this game is what...4/5 years old, And STILL no one ever has a definite answer that works for everyone. This game can be hellish to install for some folk. Always has been always will.

As far as I know this is a Steam UI problem, It's just crap with 64-bit versions of games. It's a combination of Steam pandering to the masses and Crysis being an older game.

It works for me, but I think I could live without it, rather than install Windows 32-bit. God it would be like going back to the dark ages.
