No, the maps are completely different. Where in Canals is the giant bridge that Rialto is on?
Also, the thumbnail shows the view from CT spawn (looking to the water, not to the side with the sites) on Canals. Where on Rialto is this view?
Like I said... It's a modified version of Canals. The maps won't look exactly the same. Just like Dizzy is a modified Vertigo.
Also thumbnails don't have to be 100% accurate. Like the Mirage thumbnail, it's missing some boxes and crates that are actually in the map, but is not in the thumbnail.
How the hell is Dizzy a modified version of Vertigo? Sure, the setting may be similar, but the layout is completely different. Just like how Canals and Rialto have similar settings, but are completely different maps with completely different layouts.
Like I said. The maps are completely different.
Also, the thumbnails for the other official maps show the actual map that they are. Sure, they may be a tiny bit outdated for some maps, but at least they show the map.
The Mirage thumnail showing Mirage isn't an issue. The Shortdust thumbnail showing Shortdust isn't an issue. The Canals thumbnail showing Canals isnt an issue.
However, the Rialto thumbnail showing Canals is an issue.
If I am able to use an image of the correct map for the thumnail image of a map I upload to the workshop (which I am btw), surely Valve is capable of doing this as well.
When he says modified, he means that they used the same assets from Vertigo for Dizzy and from Canals for Rialto. Also, who cares about the thumbnail for this anyways? How did I even get here?
Well then if that is the case, you could say that Lite is a modified version of Nuke. Or that Mirage is a modified version of the original de_dust. et cetera.
Regardless, if I, a person who is admittedly pretty ♥♥♥♥ at mapmaking can put the correct thumnail on the workshop page(s) of my map(s), I should expect that Valve is capable of doing the same thing.
But Lite was made by players, not Valve, so they most likely used assets from every map and probably their own. That doesn't make it a modified version of every map in CSGO. Dizzy was designed to look as if it would be a part of Vertigo, and Rialto was designed to look as if it would be a part of Canals. And again, I am sorry that the thumbnail is wrong, but nobody really cares what the thumbnail looks like (except you lol). I hope Valve can fix it though and I hope my explanation of these maps make more sense.
But Canals and Rialto are still completely different maps.
I was never blaming you for the incorrect thumbnail, I am blaming Valve.
After all, posting the wrong thumbnail on the workshop page for an official map is still rather disappointing. Volvo, please fix.
