Bugged sieging
For some reason every time i try sieging and they rally out to attack my troops i cant retreat, if i die i cant leave, i need to completly restart my game.

also this happened in one of the castles where i tried doing a quest - rescue a lord. i killed all the gaurds and nothing happened, another time it didnt even spawn in the units.

The rally feature seems broken. Not only does it prevent retreating, but it prevents my archers from using their arrows, and Larian Sentinels aren't so great in h2h combat. :P I would have obliterated the enemy, had it allowed them to fire their arrows.

IKR my archers and my character start with 1 arrow if im lucky, bad enough they are have a 5x1 rate of players vs me, i can handle that, but they just sit back and pelt my un shielded archers

During enemy sally out all long range units on the player side have max 5 arrows. This is because attackers are caught by surprise and have no time to properly prepare to the battle.
The other reason is to prevent cheese strategy: player siege fief with mostly (only) ranged units, form ranks away from the walls and shoot all defenders with minimal looses. Then retreat to replenish arrows and repeat. Just like fish in the barrel.

yes but the fact that i cant retreat when i die, and cmon when ur goin for a siege you have your full gear, no soldier would be cought near enemies without their weapons and armor nearbye

@Heavy Metal Nightmare I agree, why on earth would you not have siege equipment when you're going to siege a castle or town?

@k0nr@d If there's one thing archers are going to have, it's arrows and bows. Also, assuming that every time the enemy sally's forth from their castle, the attacking force is caught by surprise, is not realistic. If you want to represent that chance, perhaps have a calculation based on the attackers Spot skill, and the defenders Spot skill. Then if the defender beats the Spot skill of the attacker, they get a bonus on the upcoming battle.

oh and one more thing, if that shte case peoplv should be missing armor and some shouldnt have swords, which is also game breaking so i think it should just be fair

Defenders will sally out ONLY if there is too many archers in the sieging army - no reason to defend walls against missiles, better to go and kill some of usually squishy archers. Bring more infantry and cavalry with you and defenders will stay on the walls and your quivers will be full.

So, @Heavy Metal Nightmare has an army with 1/3 archers, 2/3 infantry, and that triggers the sally forth for the defenders? Your code is not correct, if a sally is triggered at that ratio, unless there's more to it then what you've said so far. I still disagree with the assumption that attackers are always considered "surprised" by the defenders. Also, it's never a good idea to silently punish players for not having a good ratio of troops (your opinion as to the correct ratio).

IDK the exact details but i dont have mostly archers, i just asumed it was because it was my 180 troops against their 250ish or 300 troops. so since they got double they wanna bring the offencive to me

ok so i tested the theory of them sallying out if u got a bunch of archer, i took out most of my archers, just have maybe 10/20 with my army of about 130-140, they still sallied out, and what do u now? they are all elite units with powerful bows and great armor, so its a 3/1 ratio plus im again high tier units, i dont mind a challenge with the arrow problem, if it wasnt against a 3/1 ratio of high tiers units
