What is each factions strong troop?
What unit should I recruit from for each faction?

Depends on what you want, but I can give you a run-down on all of their infantry/archers/cavalry

Sarleon-

Halberdier: They have pretty good armor and a big halberd to stab at cavalry and infantry from a distance but lack shields, so they can get picked off by crossbows easily

Armored Longbowman: Pretty good armor, but somewhat meager self defense abilities. They're tbh not so good at archery, they just outlast others cuz of their plate armor

Knight: Probably one of the best faction cavalry units, they're the real strength of the Sarleon when they're backed up by Sarleon Cavalry. They hit hard, have heavy plate, and ride armored steeds. What's not to love?

Ravenstern-

Kierguard: Solid foot soldiers with plate armor, shields, and axes that can destroy other infantries shields. They're really solid troops on both the defensive end and offensive end.

Ranger: Decent armor but really good sharpshooters with big bows and big sword for melee. They can hold their own in close combat really well compared to the Sarleon Longbowmen, but they lack the armor to tank missile fire

Knight: In my opinion 2nd only to the Sarleon Knights, the Ravenstern knights are barely a grade under. Imagine a Sarleon knight but with a bit less armor and a little less quality in weaponry

Fierdsvain-

Huscarl: Tbh one of my favorites because they use heavy armor, big ol shields, axes, and throwing weapons. They're everything a versatile infantryman needs to be. They're extremely good at defending castles

Heavy Skirmisher?: I think thats his name. Anyways, he's only good for defending forts, since he can spawn with EITHER a crossbow or throwing javelins, and those with javelins aren't really suited for open combat. They wear medium armor and have decent melee skill too though

Hersir: They're alright in terms of armor, but they sometimes use light horses and dont have lances/heavy weaponry. They use one-handed axes and throwing weapons, so they're like a heavier skirmisher

Empire-

Legionnaire: Decently armored and armed with a shield, sword, and javelin, the legionnaires are the grunts of the empire. They're alright, but definantely lower in quality than other top infantries. What makes them tough is their numbers, since Empire lords will field them more likely than other factions top-tier infantries

Armored Crossbowmen: The bane of hill-top charge or siege, the Armored Crossbowmen are really good defenders, maybe the best. They use heavy armor, huge pavise shields, and siege crossbows. They are decent in the melee, so they can hold against lighter infantry. They're crossbows, however, can 1 shot some of the stronger units given that they're approaching directly

Knights: The empire knights are mediocre compared to other top-tier cavalry. They sometimes use javelins, and lack lances entirely, but they can be fielded quickly and easily. Empire armies will sometimes have loads of these to rush your defenses before you can set up

D'Shar:

Dervish: A pretty good light infantrymen, they use medium armor but move quite fast. They sometimes have throwing weapons, but their skills in onehanded use are very high compared to others. They can clear lesser groups in no time, but they wont hold against hard-hitting opponents very long

Desert Archer?: Forgot the name for this one too. They're very lightly armored but fire quite fast with good accuracy. Just be careful, as they can get slaughtered by cavalry

Noble Rider: Probably one of the best horse-archer units and the only horse archer noble, the Noble Riders are perfect harassers and are far more common compared to Noldorhorse archers. D'Shar armies will use these very much to pick off stray units.

Thats about it. Hopefully this helped. If you want more info on other units just bug me.

This really helped. Also what about enemy factions and the pendor troops? I know you can hire enemy troops (Jatu, heretic) when defeating factions

Utter crap. One of the worst archer in game. Never use them unless you can upgrade to Larian Sentinels.

Those are noble units. He probably cannot recruit them.

Only go for Huscarl with Fierdsvain. Hersir is noble and crap.
