3 Monitors - Different Profiles for each?
Hi,

What I am trying to do is set up multiple profiles for each monitor. So, as an example, Profile 1 would be Folder A (Monitor 1), Folder B (Monitor 2), and Folder C (Monitor 3).. That I can do...

What I would like is to have Profile A (As above) and then have a Profile 2, that would be say Folder C (Mon 1), Folder D (Mon 2), etc.. I'd like to have multiple Profiles for different folders, setting etc..

What seems to be happening is everytime I set up a new profile it just copies the previous one, so essentially, Profile 1 & Profile 2 are the same..

Any help?
Thanks!

I am not entirely sure what the problem is, but here goes some explaining to start with. Lets go from there and see if this helps.I personally can not change the behaviour though as this is all handled within wallpaper engine itself and not any specific wallpaper.

First, Wallpaper engine should remember your settings per screen. However if you switch wallpapers it might forget. I am not 100% sure on that.

Second. Each wallpaper has a presets option at the bottom of the settings ( right panel in the wallpaper browser, scroll all the way to to the buttons "load/save". That should allow you to save presets that are reusable. Without having to reconfigure everything.

Third, if that is not enough, you could duplicate the wallpaper with some effort, Wallpaper engine will then treat each one as seperate wallpapers with their own settings. Duplicating the wallpape is as easy as copying the folder/files and renaming the wallpaper via a config file (.json). As per these sloppy instructions. ( let me know if ya got any questions )

  • Open the wallpaper browser
  • Right click on the slideshow wallpaper ( or any other you wish to duplicate ) and select "Openin Explorer"
  • Next step is to copy all the files to a new folder. Open a new explorer window in windows, and go to: ..\Steam\steamapps\common\wallpaper_engine\projects\myprojects
  • Copy the wallpaper folder, or make a new folder and copy the files of the wallpaper to this folder. So you get ..\wallpaper_engine\projects\myprojects\slideshow-copy .. and in that folder all the files.
  • In the new folder with the copied files, open "project.json". This can be done with notepad or any other plain text editor.
  • Go to the very bottom of the file ( or search for "Personal Slideshow" ), and edit that to say "My slideshow name" or whatever. Then save the file and close the editor

Now you might have to reopen the wallpaper browser for it to show properly, but you should have a new slideshow wallpaper with the title "My slideshow name" This is how you can duplicate the wallpaper so each have their own settings and you can easily switch between thos without having to use the presets.

Do keep in mind that if I would update the wallpaper at any point in the future, the update will not be copied to your duplicates. However any planned updates at the moment will not change any behavior and are just cleaning up things and fixing things.

Thanks for the reply. I'll see what I might be missing. I'll see if I can explain it better.. Sorry about that...

So, I have multiple folders with multiple images... I want to set up different profies for different folders.

Profile 1 - It would be say, the Lord of the Rings wallpapers (Images) for Monitor 1, Monitor 2 - Star Wars, and then Monitor 3 - Games

So, I save that profile as #1

Then, I set up a new Profile. Profile #2.. Ir';a Mon 1 - Travel folder, Mon 2 - Scenery, and Mon 3 - Galaxies Folder. Save that as Profile #2

When I load Profile #1, it's no longer what I saved it as Profile #1, It's the same settings as Profile #2. Then, if I got into Profile #1 and redo everything Profile #2 is now the same settings as Profile #1.

Apologies if this confusing. :)
Hi.. I think I misread your post. I can see that it's not Slideshow but most likely wallpaper engine that is causing this. I basically just want multiple Profiles and each one to have a different setting with Wallpaper engine.. Thanks for the help!

It does sound out of my powers. All I can give are tips on how to save individual settings in different ways. But WE handles all the storing of presets and stuff. All I can do is duplicate the wallpaper to create it's own set of presets and whatever, but its still per screen.
Thanks. I do appreciate the help. I'll play around with it.. :)
