Pretty sure you need Half-Life 2 just to have access to the game's maps, which this gamemode requires the Half-Life 2 maps to play. So, they need to own the game to play with little to no missing textures and models.

There would be no missing textures or models since gmod already has the textures and models because of gmod being a mod of hl2 but for the episodes you'll need them to play
