Top priority should be armor with functionality. Then get to the fancy shmancy stuff later on.
I would like to help with the Conversion process.
I'm horrible at animation but great at mimicking art styles and sometimes detail.
I've already tested my art skills on some of what was suggested above (spacesuit & pilot) maybe you could get them implemented into the game.
Although I've already written the code for the items, I get the feeling you would like to write the discriptions yourself and organize the code however you want.
I don't know how I would get the pictures to you so I'm just going to let you decide how you recive them.
P.s. you should get the "legsterminator" working xD
In the mean time ill try to work on everything suggested in this discussion, but im going to draw things as I feel they should be drawen.
(im talking about you "Es-Chan" and "The Bandit of War", I do what I want!)
I could use as much help as I can get as I am super lazy and I somehow already bored myself out of working on conversions... Ironic
First things first, It's super easy to mod with starbound (none of that number matrix s*it you would expect to see if you've never modded before)
All you need is a few tools: (all tools will be free)
1.) A Pixle Editor (for instance, I use Paint .net (Regular Paint Does NOT work))
http://www.getpaint.net/index.html
2.) A Code Editor (I use Notepad++(Regular Notepad "Sometimes" Works but is usually unreliable))
https://notepad-plus-plus.org/
(You will not need a Code editor if you just want to make the sprites and not the item itself.)
3.) An Asset Unpacker
...This one can be a bit tricky because sometimes you will need a code editor depending on what program you use.
I usually used two programs in total to get all the files (One for Main Game & Another For mods) but I think one of the programs I use can unpack both.
You will not need to repack anything you unpack but be sure that there are not two different versions of mods floating around your starbound files as that can cause the game to crash.
When you edit something, make a copy of it, make a seprate folder on your desktop and work from there.
(Currently looking for the link for the program, i'll get back to you on that one)
http://community.playstarbound.com/threads/all-versions-win-linux-modpackhelper.92473/
(not sure if this works on both file types but its very useful. just follow the instructions)
Now that you have your tools, work on the sprites and send them as a file attachment into the "Starbound Community Forums Lamia mod discussions tab" (and be sure to tell us what you worked on and where)

Just a heads up, do not work on any Chest parts, only the legs and the icons associated with said legs. (saves on time and requires less coding for just a small change)
Edit: Found Link for assets + Fixed Paint.Net showing a weird link to a paint shop.
