You only lie down on the teleporter when you haven't rebooted sail. The ♥♥♥♥ are you talking about with a key?

You know that you can just use the beam up/down button on the side panel, right? If that's not available then it means that S.A.I.L. isn't yet active. Exhaust its dialogue until it gives you a quest.
