How To: Extending Raft Foundations
Step 1
Place as many normal foundations as you can to cover the rafts surface.

Step 2
Place a thatch ceiling in the direction you would like to extend your foundations.

Step 3
Place your foundation under the thatch ceiling, it will now snap to your other foundations where it wouldn't before.

Step 4
Remove the thatch ceiling.

Step 5
Repeat for as far as you would like to extend the raft up to the build radius.

NOTE:This method works completely fine with vanilla structures, there is no guarantee this will work with modded structures

This is brilliant! Thankyou.

though if you build to the end of the build radius, you can put walls or railings on the edge, in my experience.

goo for landing ramps, bad for house boats. :p

there's a max distance you can build from a raft, like with foundations. its two or three

is there a new way to do it? i cant seem to get it working
MacGyver  [developer] Nov 13, 2016 @ 6:14pm
No this way is currently working as i just used it. Its possible your too close to the shore and the ground is obstructing your foundation.

When I try this, it just tells me the foundation is obstructed... and I can't place it. I can't get my raft any bigger than 3x3 without substituting foundations with ceilings. Trying to make a pirate ship, and the server I play on just got rid of s+ so now my dreams have been crushed :'( (( Update: I placed a pillar in the middle of a foundation on the edge of the raft that I wanted to extend, and it allowed me to snap a foundation under a ceiling. Hope that helps anyone who is also having this issue))

@dolphinrider23 - Make sure your using thatch ceilings as those have the right clearance for foundations underneath, also make sure you arent too close to shore as it will obstruct you

Ooohh lol it -has- to be thatch. Ok xD I was using wood. No wonder using a pillar the way I did worked... it lowered the foundations enough to fit under the wood ceilings
