I moved this to a discussion because it was too long for comments. LOL Thanks again for a great mod, MacGyver.
The 3PV view is now working right for me. I can change between any of the view distance options now.
I decided to try building a new raft this morning and built a large house boat on it like the one I have that can't move anymore. The structure on the boat is complete, although it has no internal fittings or cargo yet, and it works fine - no jittering or rubber-banding, etc. I was too tired after building the thing to go any further, but I'm wondering if it is just a matter of boats built before the current release of ARK?
Thanks again! I'll let you know if I have any trouble once the new boat is fitted and carrying cargo.
er.. I meant to say in there that it's fully fitted out and loaded and working fine.
The problem:
The raft has a weight stat! Why? That's beyond me. But the weight takes into account: player weight when driving the raft, and the total weight of items stored within containers on the raft, but seems to ignore the weight of items inside the rafts inventory. Why? This is completely backwards. The last one is a big deal when farming metal and unloading into the rafts containers because it causes the raft to reach it's limit fast and become encumbered which makes it nearly impossible to move. I do not use the raft's built in inventory, it's inconvenient to do so on a large build. When pressing H on the large raft, the HUD displays 1800 as the max weight capacity, making my longhaul build nearly useless (playing on The Center single player).
So I begin troubleshooting, and hopefully this can help you replicate and narrow down the problem, considering that others have reported this issue as well.
Findings:
-Moving the mod to the top of the list makes no difference.
-I spawned another Large Raft, got on board and pressed H. It displays 106/100000, 106 being my current weight. I put some stones on the raft inventory and it's now 104 (my current weight ignoring the weight of stones in the raft). I take the stones out, placed a container on the raft and put the stones in. Now it's 106 again, 104 being my weight plus the weight of stones inside the container. In addition I don't understand why the weight cap of the spawned large raft is 100000 and my crafted large raft is only 1800. And again what's the point of the weight cap? It seems to me that it should take into account the rafts inventory not containers and player weight.
I sincerely hope that you look into a solution for this. Let me know if I can provide you with more info or anything else you want me to do to help you troubleshoot. Good luck!
"The raft has a weight stat! Why?" - This is because the raft is just a dino, when its given an inventory it behaves just like platform dinos. Platform dinos take all weight of containers into account. I've got around this on the advanced raft by disabling status effects (encumbering) while swimming. Unfortunately that stopped working after the SE update, so I've now increased the encumber weight limit to 100k, so even when Ark isnt following its own rules people should have some room to work with the weight. I'd love for things to work perfectly as theyre designed in Ark but thats not the case sometimes.
"But the weight takes into account: player weight when driving the raft, and the total weight of items stored within containers on the raft, but seems to ignore the weight of items inside the rafts inventory. Why?" - Thats all Arks doing unfortunately, i have no control over what is taken into account when determining the overall weight.
"When pressing H on the large raft, the HUD displays 1800 as the max weight capacity, making my longhaul build nearly useless" - If any of your rafts are reading 1800 then they are using the wrong (default raft) character stats, this was another bug introduced with SE. If your raft doesnt show a max value of 100k it isnt current and should be replaced.
I hope this answers some of the questions you have. Unfortunately most of these values are just integers and checkboxes, and beyond checking the box and entering the right value theres not much i can do when Ark doesnt pull the right values. I'll also add that i do everything possible to avoid people having to replace their rafts, i've avoided some additions just because they would cause this. But with the blueprint changes in SE it seems unavoidable in some cases, but unfortunately thats outside my control.
Thanks for the reply and clarifying some of my concerns. As I mentioned, I play single player and my progress is slow so I haven't gotten to platform dinos yet so I was unaware of the container weight mechanics, but now I understand. With regards to the weight limit on my raft being 1800 I don't know how I ended up with such stats. At first it wasn't an issue because the the internal inventory wasn't working but I got screwed with the update and replacing the raft itself as part of a large build means having to rebuild the structure all over.
Anyways I greatly appreciate your work, everything else works fine for me, no camera problems or rubberbanding, so once again thank you!
