Significant Increase in CPU Usage
Ever since we installed the latest version of this Mod on our server, we've seen a significant bump in CPU usage. Ho other Mods have been updated, added, or removed and there have been no changes to the player base.

Before the update, we were running about 20%-30% with no players logged in, now we're running 50%-60^. By the time we hit 3 concurrent players, the CPU is pegged at a constant 100%. Before the update, we could expect to have 9-10 concurrent players before hissint anything close to this mark.

Same here - my server is running at 100% with no players in after mod update. Same for my friend's Ragnorok server. I'm going to try adding below to the server's gameusersettings.ini (currently not there) incase its the changes with the growth causing an issue.

[BabyMod]
PreventWildGrowth=True

edit: My server is running The Island map, if that helps.

Update: using PreventWildGrowth=True made no difference, even after a dinowipe.
CPU still maxing with this mod. Left a comment on the comment section.

I tried runing a DestroyWildDinos command after everyone logged out for the night and the CPU immediately dropped back to expected levels, only to slowly increase back to max over the next half hour.

It definitely looks like it's related to the number of dinos on the map, possibly extra processing needed to track the age and maturation of babies. Now that I know that, it maes sense. I'm just confused why it only started after this last update.

It would be nice if whatever change caused the CPU increase could be reverted, otherwise I may have to remove the mod. The server hosts several other (low-population) maps and can't afford to dedicate an entire CPU to just this one.

It looks like there was another update today that fixed the problem.

Immediately after downloading the update and restarting our server, CPU usage went back down to expected levels. It's been steady now for several hours!

Thanks @dev!

Same here - my server's CPU usage is down from 100% to 15% after the update :D

OK, nice to hear. Ark modding is not so easy to change the vanilla game, i had to build some tricks to bring the game to do what i want.
Question: do you use only ARK vanilla dinos or also modded ones?
This mod changed also modded dinos.
I can do an alternative mod version, which will only work with vanilla dinos, but will it will cost no processor time except on game start.

I really appreciate your work :)
Mods on my server with modded dinos are:

937164220 - Scorched Earth Anywhere http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=937164220
924563988 - Wyvern Nests Plus http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=924563988
972887420 - Jurassic Park Expansion http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=972887420

I'd been running the above 3 mods with Natural Babies on the server for over a year without any issues and having mod dino babies spawn from all 3 mods successfully.

Probably not related but Wyvern Nests Plus does spawn it's own baby drakes and wyvens, could be a conflict with yesterday's changes?

there should be no issues with modded dinos.
Knightwalker Dec 4, 2018 @ 6:03am
Yeah, it was working really well before with those mods, there was no issues and liked seeing the mod dino's babies :)

But I'm happy to help, if I can, to fix whatever caused the massive CPU increase with the features you were planning to add to the mod.

the massive server load was an error in function, because i forgot to change a test back to production

Ah ok. No problems :) Happy with how the mod is running. Nice work finding that and fixing! :)
