Hello. Me again. I'm the same nox that wrote the Bandit King mod for M&B back when. Ex-game dev and grumpy old man.

I'm developing against this mod for personal use, and am interested in reaching out to the author to offer collaboration.

I can either publish a derivative mod, or update this one or publish nothing if you wish. It's your mod, so you decide.

What I am doing is -

- developing generic dialogue classes for prisoner recruitment for all classes of npcs (with lots of interesting conditions and specialities)
- adding recruitment dialogue packages to all non-storyline breaking NPCs

The three classes of recruitment I see are :

- releasing prisoners from cages that the PC did not imprison
- releasing the player's own prisoners
- rescuing friendly NPCs that are recruitable (like disarmed, near-KO, wounded etc.) - if you are saving their lives and they like you, you might be able to talk them into recruitment too

the idea is to make recruitment orthogonal and consistent but also interesting.

I'm developing against this mod because it already has a following and it was a good idea so I'd like to improve it.

To me personally, this sounds like a pretty great improvement to the current system. The more immersive, the better, I say! ^w^
Though, I can already tell you, the mod dev is really busy with real life at the moment. Reaching out like this may not immediatelly give you an answer.

Just know, that I fully support this.

Hey Nox sorry I missed this original post but as we said in chat I'm happy to work with you :-) it was good to read your ideas further as well. How has your work progressed? At the moment I'm actually using a few generic dialogues for different NPC such as all the ninja and merc types getting the same packages. There are a ton of what I'd call the older dialogues which are short and unengaging that need to be re-written. Some that I'm still proud of (broken skeleto, UC samurai) etc. Additially, though it was never popular you might like to look at the quest mod I did as it uses the dialogue system in a different way and could give you other ideas( I have another half finished one too) and the companion mod (kaiin poet) for ideas on using the biome trigger.
