Question about custom maps crashing/not loading
I've had issues where custom maps will crash when loading the next map. Like I'll host locally and the first map will load fine but when it loads the 2nd or 3rd map it crashes to desktop. Then a friend takes over as host and it doesn't crash the rest of the game. He doesn't use any vocalizers. I've never been able to figure out why it crashes. Is it because of the vocalizer? I assumed it was some addon but I have so many addons installed it's impossible to pinpoint.

What has to be in the stringtable dictionary so that any vocalizers don't crash the game?

Short answer: some custom maps are not done properly. But there's a pinned discussion post which explains this with more details:

Yea I saw it earlier I'm just wondering if the vocalizer is the culprit or if there's something else that's causing the crashes. It shouldn't matter if I'm hosting the game or not right? If the map doesn't have the proper stringtable it would crash either way?

As I said, some maps are just not done properly (that is the authors didn't include the necessary stringtable dictionary file). When you have a modified talker installed or a vocalizer with custom talker like mine, those maps will crash. But that doesn't make the vocalizer or modified talker the culprit.

One who's hosting should not have custom/modified talker installed if you want to play those problematic maps. I suggested you either disable my vocalizer if you host or download a special version of my vocalizer which doesn't have custom talker (it's in the pinned post).

There's two other things I didn't suggested. You can contact the authors of the problematic map and ask them to fix it by including stringtable dictionary (good luck with that!) or you can rebuild the map and include the dictionary yourself (good luck with that too, plus all players would have to have the modified version of that map).

I know the situation is unfortunate, but some authors were just too lazy to make their maps properly.

So if someone else is hosting and doesn't use a vocalizer then it's ok to enable my vocalizer?

This seems to be true. I've tested a campaign which has no stringtable dictionary implemented in its maps and which didn't load before (when using my vocalizer or any modified talker add-on). Now it's loading just fine, and even people can join the game without problems.
