How is this different to Improved Dinos - Rare Spawns?
Improved Dinos - Rare Spawns (IDRS) is a popular mod that was released in July 2015. The last update for this mod was released in October 2015 and unfortunately with the subsequent updates to the Ark: Survival Evolved game a number of bugs have emerged.

The Color Dinos Plus mod is backwards compatible with the IDRS mod. If you are already running the IDRS mod and you switch to this mod then all of your dinosaurs tamed while the IDRS mod was in place will be preserved. We have done this on purpose by creating our custom dinosaur colors with the same naming convention they used. Unfortunately we do not have access to the custom color pallette that was used so your dinos tamed while running the IDRS mod will likely lose their non-default colors when you switch this mod. Previously bred dinosaurs will still only breed with other bred dinosaurs (this is an existing bug in IDRS). Dinosaurs you breed when running our mod will be able to breed with their parents and also their siblings.

This mod is different to IDRS because it:

* Has a different color file for each species. Each species in this mod has their own custom color file. No more green and purple wolves! We have customised the colors available and done our best to match them for realism while still being visually interesting.

* Leaves spawn regions unmodified. This means that when future dinosaurs are added they will be available in your map from day one, even if this mod hasn't been updated yet. The IDRS mod directly modified both the beach spawns and the graslands spawns which meant that newer dinosaurs spawning in those areas (such as the Gallimimus) never spawned. Our mod won't face that problem.

* Allows wild tamed dinosaurs and bred tamed dinosaurs to mate. In IDRS wild caught dinosaurs were of one class (i.e. the wild Argentavis were Argent_Character_BP_AllColors) but their offspring were of another class (i.e. their Argentavis babies were Argent_Character_BP). This lead to problems with breeding and lead to dinosaurs not always being mate-boosted because the game thought they were totally different species, even though in game they looked the same! We solve that by making all dinosaurs have babies of the same class as their parents (i.e. babies of the Argent_Character_BP_AllColors are also Argent_Character_BP_AllColors). This does mean that once the mod adds color options to a dinosaur all future wild dinosaurs that are tamed cannot breed with previously tamed/bred dinosaurs (exception: if your server was running IDRS already then IDRS wild tamed dinosaurs can breed with freshly wild tamed dinosaurs when running our mod).

* Does NOT include rare spawning dinos. Dino Colors Plus does not include any of the rare spawning dinos from IDRS such as the Alpha Dilo, Raptor Elite and Obsidian Carno. These might be added in the future - let us know whether you want them or not by leaving a comment :)

I think one of the big problems for me as a server admin, was back in the IDRS days mods were done differently and it was incorporated into the map file, which made disabling it to run the server, extremely frustrating. Not to mention the spawning issues because of the rare dinos.

Still a major bummer that the dinos go poof if you temp disable the mod to keep things running but much better than the two issues above.
