Denmark Suggestion
Hello,

I've seen others post suggestions and ideas for provinces and map updates and figured I would chip in as well. I really enjoy the mod and appreciate all the work all y'all put into it. So I picked Denmark because it seemed like an relatively easy, self-contained region to start in though I admittedly had relatively little knowledge of it before I started. So this is very much a rough draft.

Thanks for the ideas! I'll keep all of this in mind when revisiting Scandinavia, which I'm hoping will be soon.

So I've also gone ahead and done some more research on the rest of Scandinavia. Once again it's rough. I also touched up Denmark to get rid of some provinces that were obviously too small/lacking dev. Hope this helps.

Sweden:

# 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, 17 are the same as in BT 9.0 minus some occasional border changes

1 & 2: I split Jönköping province into two small provinces; one centered on the city of the same name and the other centered on Eksjö. Eksjö was the seat of a Thing (local assembly of notables) in the late middle ages and had city status throughout our period.

5 & 6: I split Kronoberg County/Province into two smaller provinces one centered on the county capital in Växjö and the other on the western part of the county around the city of Ljungby. Ljungby was important in the beginning of our period though it faded away later before reemerging during industrialization.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Älvsborg_County

12 & 13: I split Östergötland province into its two constituent regions Östanstång and Västanstång or East and West of the Stangan river. This allows us to represent both Norrkoping and Linkoping respectively.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Östergötland

18 & 19: I split Vastmanland in two with the eastern half centered on Vasteras keeping its name and the western half becoming Bergslagen which is an important cultural region and center of iron production.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Västmanland
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Västerås
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bergslagen

20 & 21: I split the large province of Varmland into two parts East and West. Right now tentatively named Arvika (West) and Karlstad (East). Unfortunately both were founded after our start date. The split is mostly to add more strategic depth to the region between Sweden and Norway.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Värmland
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karlstad
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arvika

22 & 23: The other tentative province split; this time Dalarna. At the very least the two settlements Falun (22) and Mora (23) did seem to exist at our start date. Falun in particular is important as it is the site of the largest copper mine in Sweden if not Europe. Mora was the sight of some famous events surrounding Gustav Vasa's rebellion.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mora,_Sweden
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falun
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dalarna

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ångermanland
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medelpad

28 & 29: I also split Norrbotten, another traditional province of Sweden, off from Vasterbotten.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Västerbotten
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norrbotten

30, 31, 32: I tentatively split the extremely overly-large Lapland into three slightly smaller provinces based on major rivers/lakes that flow through Lapland. I don't have good names or much historical precedent other than that before the establishment of Lapland County the territory was divided based on river systems.

Some serious promise here, and one or two things I did myself then cut due to lack of development (now less a problem with dev doubling), though I expect I might have a question or two, as well. I hope you'll bear with me as I finish up 10.0 & related addons, then I will hopefully be able to dive into this more.
Nice! How did I miss this. I wish it gave me notifications for new discussions. This looks like a lot of research!

Thank you again for this work & the ideas! As you can probably see, 11.5 was able to incorporate many of these ideas & they are now in game =D.
