Playing DUWS - E on another map
DUWS is highly adaptive to different maps and terrains.

To play DUWS on another map, simply follow the following instructions.

Note: Copied and modified from Phantom_Wolf's comment on the following Steam Workshop item.

MP workshop subscribed missions are located at:

C:\Users\[Your PC username]\Documents\Arma 3 [Or Arma 3 - Other profiles]\[Your Arma 3 username]\Saved\steamMPMission

Find the relevant folder [Not sure what is it for DUWS-M-E, i don't think Steam currently downloaded it to my PC.], copy missions.pbo to either MPmissions folder in A3 directory or dePBO and place in editor mission folders if you're editing it.

Rename pbo to following format: [Any_name].[Map_name].pbo // This step is absolutely critical.

So thanks for everything Phantom. I'm looking forward to finally playing DUWS! I guess I'd like some map suggestions because I'm pretty sick of Altis/Stratis, and the only other maps I really know well are the Afghan ones (Kunduz, Sangin and Takistan) which really don't fit the theme of US vs Russia. I was thinking maybe Chernerus or Bornholm but I'm not sure if they have enough buildings. Any recommendations would be great!

Story wise, Chernarus would be great.

Chernarus [An A2 map.] is supposed to be just south of Russia. In the A2 story line, there's a conflict going on between irregular groups, Russia, the local government and the USMC [Marine Corps indeed.], i actually wrote a lot about the story in this comment but decided to delete it because it's not important.
Nice! Yeah Chernerus was kind of what I was thinking but it has so few enterable buildings I was wondering if maybe there's a similar but better option. Perhaps Essker or Bornholm, or hell maybe mixing it up entirely and using Austrailia or something. :) Unless I get a better suggestion I'll try Chernerus. Though again, the lack of buildings with doors that open is kind of a buzzkill for such a brilliant map.

Also, I'd like to read your mission story. :(

No it's not my story, it's official A2 story [And A3 continues it i guess.].

Chedaki insurgents nearly wiped out the local defense force, CDF, in a violent campaign. The US responded by sending the USMC to stop them. The Chedaki, looking for outside help, did a terrorist event at nearby Russia and framed a rival guerrilla group, the NAPA. Russia invaded Chernarus to crush NAPA, while secretly supporting the Chedakis, without knowing that NAPA wasn't responsible for the terrorist event, and the Chedakis are really the ones behind it. Based on the player's choice in Arma 2, Russia may formally take over the USMC peacekeeping campaign, or the player may stay and fight unofficially along side NAPA without support from the US. After some time, if enough evidence is gathered, the USMC will re-invade Chernarus. If things go peacefully and evidence against Chedakis are provided to the Russians, they will formally withdraw from Chernarus, however if they don't get evidence, they will nuke the country. The player's group can also at multiple points of the story, die. Multiple ending campaign.

For some reason however, despite the Russians supposedly being peacekeepers, just like the Americans, they're both opposing factions in the game, BLUFOR and OPFOR.

PS: When you think about it, DUWS is a lot about open warfare, the kind you usually see, instead of CQB or urban warfare.
So I just ported this to Chernarus Winter (using Spookwarcom's C.O.R.E module which has an option for snow) and you are correct, the mission ports very well! Thank you.

Now I didn't get a chance to try the mission in MP, but when just previewing in the editor, I don't see any option to request a side mission from the commander. Did I miss an option somewhere? Side missions are in the scroll wheel options for the commander, right?

Side missions are in the requests menu [Available at commander.], top right corner, blue button, clearly says it there.

May lag while it finds 7 random safe places, then you just need to choose the side mission you want. One of each possible type will always be available as you choose side missions.
