XCOM 2
Long War Alien Pack
Hive Queen
How powerful is this alien? Is it a boss level unit or even a hunter level unit?

When do they show, I am in late August and still haven't seen one. Only enemy thats new thats left to fight. Do these new aliens show in the final mission?

Edit:

Ok, finally seen one, September. Took no chances and froze it before killing it, so I do not know what it does. Definitely a boss unit stronger than a Gatekeeper, Sectopod, and even an Avatar.

lol why don't you let it rush into your squad to find out what it does?

Considering you can win the game by June which it's possible to finish without ever seeing archons, andromedans, etc. Most of the late game enemies can be avoided by winning faster. Well, they can show up in the final mission, but no where else. My last play through didn't even have 1 berserker in it, the mutons had only just started to show up before win.

It's Force Level 18 which is just after Gatekeepers. It's the same power level as the Sectopod or the Gatekeeper statwise but it uses vanilla Chryssalid AI which cripples it as a threat: it'll burrow, do nothing until you get near it, ambush you once and then get burned down in a turn.

Now I've got ADVENT Avenger's Chryssalid AI mod I suspect it'll be nightmare inducing.

What are its special abilities? I fought one with two Cryssalid soliders and had to throw a frost grenade on that thing. Didn;t even give it a chance to move.

This unit would be a perfect unit for an insta kill ability.

The Hive Queen has the same exact moves as a regular chryssalid...I've gotten to pilot one twice with a Psi Op. They can only burrow or strike, thus they have to be next to the target. Unfortunately for the Hive Queen the space she needs to move and stand in precludes her from getting to your soldiers a lot of times. She can't for example strike a soldier if she is right next to them on a hill or a building top and her feet are on a different level. In locations like the ADVENT Tower mission she might spawn in a spot where she can't move at all and is simply a big freaking fodder. The original Hive Queen which I imagine is still available off Steam in a seperate mod was a little better in that it would spawn a dozen chryssalid once you wounded it. However it was also easily defeated if you had domination or even a poison or incidiary grenade. Her size and stats make her extremely easy to hit. If I were to imagine an upgrade I would think that she would have 50% more hp, 100% more armor, be 25% smaller, slightly better defense (10-20%) have the ability to psi gate in more chryssalid, and maybe have a move where she shoots out poison spikes.

Just also wanted to state that I have never taken damage from a Hive Queen, though they are awfully cool to fight. When one came burrowing out of the street in my last council mission I was quite excited :D

psi-gate seems wrong, chryssalids are not known for psionics. Would be better if she released them from her body or dropped a sack of them without needing to infect someone first.

However it was also easily defeated if you had domination

That's almost every enemy in the game

I agree with you, spawning Chryssalids in much the same way as they appeared in that enemy within mission in Newfoundland, I like what someone said about giving her a range attack though (and I haven't even faced her yet) as due to her size it would be difficult for her to actually get NEXT to your soilders to attack, that or give her a sweep attack like the Faceless so she dosen't have to be RIGHT next to your soilders, just close. (realises what has just done) you know on second thought, those are all TERRIBLE ideas, please don't implement them LWS!
