The more you kill with the melee portion, the bloodier the Axe portion itself gets, the larger your clip is. So, it's a bit of a risk/reward system. Plus it would look cool.
Pros:
Alt fire is a melee attack
On Melee hit: causes bleed for 6 seconds.
Primary fire does mini-crits to bleeding enemies
Cons:
Cannot equip melee weapon (occupies secondary and primary & melee slots)
Deals 50% less melee damage.
