Playthrough Feedback
I finally got through a full game as Arstotzka (after a few abortive games played with other mods active caused issues)

It's a challenging sponsor to play as, expansion can be punishing, military conquest especially so. However I rarely found myself short of troops, I imagine a better route is to get a small core of 4-6 well developed cities, with a full security compliment and push for a non domination victory.

In my play through (Soyuz- Purity) I found myself very capable when it came to fighting a war, but conquest I suspect, was what cost me the game. Since I was running 50-100+ negative health almost constantly from midgame on my economy was a shambles.

Daoming managed to squeak a Harmony win about 3 turns before I could get to her mind flower.

After that I played on for a while and subsequently got a promised land and then domination victory (both hollow though) especially for the immigrant Arstotzkans who had to be moved under armed guard to a fungal biome -200+ health tract of land that was covered in the wreckage of a once great civilisation. Great Mistake or not, they would probably rather have stayed on Earth.

In the few games I played it was consistently a unique faction to play as and encouraged me to play in a way that I usually would not.

Feel like the unhealth for number of cities might make you a bit inflexible though? Thanks for your efforts, I'd like to know if and how you plan on updating to Rising Tide?

Yes the unhealth from number of cities definitely forces you to play in a different way. I find the best way to play as Artstotzka is to focus on a small number of cities, say, 3 or 4 (With Eudamonia you can add an extra 3) and focus on any other victory besides Domination.

Whilst its definitely possible to have a Domination win, being aggressive in a war usually leads to a mess at home, resulting in the economic shambles you encountered.
You could, however, always pick up Democratized Quartering in the Might tree for a "boost" to economy, allowing you to keep an active military out and about, as well as one sitting at home for the trait bonuses. Even then it would probably be wise to make a beeline for the capital cities, rather than capturing the entire enemy civilization.

As for Rising Tide... I'm definitely not the man to talk to about that. =P

Indeed a surgical aproach would be best for domination victory. That said, although it was only on Soyuz I still snowballed my way to a Domination win through brute force, just not before Daoming got her win. Three turns later I was crushing her under the boots of my many centurions, really it was my inexperience with the game that was the problem, not the faction.

Certainly an advanced players recomended faction though because while there is power there there are a lot of restraints in place that you need to understand and know the counterplay for.

If there was time I'd like to play through again using what I learned in this play through, (stay small and organised, maybe don't concentrate on might virtue quite as much, make sure i'm heading for a victory by midgame and keep a better watch on others doing the same) but I don't have that time now before rising tide comes out (I wonder how that will affect existing sponsor mods?)
